Baby Orca

I bought this for my sister who LOVES orcas & pregnant with her first. Full of beautiful pictures & illustrations on every page. Educational information too! I even learned something new even though I’m super into animal information & have extensive knowledge on orcas especially because my sister is so into them

I have a LO 3yrs who loves fish. Anything the swims. From the get the catchy cover stood out and was a must buy. She doesn't yet read but makes her own stories up to the pictures and then acts them out later in the tub. This will be a good grow into book for her as she is now recognizing letters and thus the narrative will change as she gets older. So glad we bought it!

Baby Orca is a delightful book, written simply and clearly, and exquisitely illustrated. My 6-year old granddaughter loved it,---I was a bit concerned because I thought she might miss having a "real" story, but I was wrong. This book held her attention from beginning to end ---she was fascinated with the vastness of the sea and Baby Orca's enormous weight. She advised me that she, too, loves salmon and eats a lot of it whenever she can.

great photos could have been more pages

I showed my Kindle edition to my husband, a retired fisheries research biologist for the National Marine FisheriesService Laboratory here in Juneau, Ak. He said "It's (Baby Orca) very interesting, I learned something." The pictures are quite beautiful. When Orcas come into the Gastineau channel it's cause for calling fiends to let them know for sightings.

My kids love the book. Every time I read it they bombard me with questions and talk all about the baby orca and the orca pod. My daughter says she wants to go orca watching now.

Although written for three year olds, I am already reading Baby Orca to my one year old grandson who traces the images with his fingers. What his grandmother likes is that she never gets bored reading it because the natural history is accurate and the illustrations of these highly social, utterly appealing marine mammals are so beautiful.

My four year old grandson loves the book. I don't read all the words because a lot of the text is beyond his level of understanding. But the pictures are beautiful and he loves to hear how the baby orca grows bigger and becomes an adult.

I learned a lot from reading this book to my son. So much factual information about orcas. Very well written.
