fun
The beginning sorta felt like a filler arch in any anime but it came back well and ended well. See you in vol 4.

Kame Sennin is willing to train Son Goku so he can get stronger! That is until, the Martial artist Kuririn arrives, hoping to be the Invincible Old Master’s top student! Will Son Goku and Kuririn follow the dirty old man’s difficult and odd training methods just in time for the Tenkaichi Budōkai? Find out! It seems like what everyone loves about this arc are the training montages, and to be honest, I’m probably one of them. It’s one of the freshest and funniest parts in the whole original series. It shows Goku and Kuririn digging out fields, giving people milk glasses while skipping and even more creative sequences! And I also forgot, Lunch is first shown in this comic! Lunch is a mysterious woman who changes personality and hair by sneezing. What really irks me is how she just doesn’t mind living with rando’s who don’t even know her. Other than that, she’s a pretty bland character when she’s not blonde. That’s probably why Toriyama barely put her in Z or other projects. This volume also shows Goku, Kuririn and more enter the Budōkai pretty easily due to their training. We also see the protagonists from the Pilaf arc like Oolong, Pu’ar, Bulma and Yamcha make appearances. Yamcha is also a contestant who made it in the tournament! We only see one match from the Strongest Under The Heavens tournament and it’s Kuririn fighting Bacterian. Gosh, I hate this character… Other than a few nitpicks, this is definitely my #4 favourite in the OG series. This book has a great mix of comedy and seriousness to the point where it’s almost obsessive to pick up, read, buy more, rinse and repeat.
