Willow Soundtrack

Some of the nocks against Horner is that he phoned it in on some movies, used the same mood cues too excessively, and even repeated whole patterns from one movie to another. However, there is no denying he created some of the best and most memorable movie scores in movie history when he was on top of his game: Aliens, Glory, Braveheart, Commando, Apocalypto, Apollo 13 just to name some of my faves - and Willow falls on that list as well. This epic, exciting, and fun score is the perfect accompaniment to the sometimes goofy if not rollicking "Lord of the Rings light" 80's fantasy flick. Even if you don't like the movie, it's still a terrific soundtrack with great mood moments and a memorable and sweeping main theme. Can't recommend it enough.

As a child, I grew up watching the movie "Willow", and it captivated me far more than "Merlin" or any other movie with a medieval setting. The characters were heart-felt and genuine, the story was far beyond excellent, but the MUSIC....oh, the music is what made the movie for me. The music for this movie would capture my attention and never let it go. Some find the lack of lyrics to songs in movies to be detrimental and stunting, but I say it gives freedom, and this soundtrack makes my mind sing. I'm finding it hard to describe my feelings for the music of this movie at this point, so I will be quiet now.I recommend this CD to any and all RPGers (that's those who do D&D and other Table-Top role-playing games), but also to any that enjoys a good lyric-less soundtrack. I grew up with classical music (Beethoven and the lot), so when I say "This soundtrack is amazing", you know what I compare it to. Please buy it, if you can find it. I'm a proud owner of a copy of both the movie and, now, the soundtrack. Enjoy it.

Although not my favorite Horner film score (Glory holds that spot), I've come to enjoy this score a great deal. It has taken longer to reach the point where I'm eager to hear it again, but Horner imparts a rich, emotional tone to his music that many film composers can't or won't capture. Since I enjoy classical music, I also enjoy film music that partakes of the rich sonorities of classical music, and this one fits that bill nicely.

Item arrived as expected. This was actually a gag gift for my wife. This year was our 9th anniversary and we follow the traditional gift guidelines meaning this year was willow. My real gift was a weeping willow tree to be planted and enjoyed for years to come. After receiving my well thought out and beautifully hand crafted gift from my wife, I in turn handed her this soundtrack... She did her best to act happy but was more than a little relieved when I presented the real gift. That being said, it's a decent soundtrack to remember an old favorite.

Great music, if you are a fan of James Horner. I don't listen to this as much as some of his othercompositions, but I am a person who loves to listen to anything that he has written. Musicaltastes are individual, so I would recommend that you listen to the sample sound tracks atAmazon.com, first.

I can see why music can make quite the difference for a movie. This score, for example, sets the tone perfectly for the movie and is beautifully done. The powerful music that is within can soften the heart, creep you out a little, strengthen you and put you in suspense! I enjoyed this score of James Horner with great relish.
