Tarot of Ceremonial Magick: Babalon Edition Cards – October 31, 2010

There is absolutely not a better tool in learning the tarot aside from the Thoth. So once you have grown in to the Thoth, you need to pick up this box. Go ahead and splurge for the card + book combo, because you are going to need it. It is not as aesthetically appealing for doing readings, but that is not what this is for. This is for learning. For the western magician, this is your perfect intro in to I Ching. For the newly inducted, this is great for learning Enochian and Goetia. Honestly this is the product of Crowley's thoughts having been open for nearly a century and authors being able to finally open up the more hidden parts of the Thoth to a wider audience with lots of clarity. In fact, I believe you should read more of Duquette, as his humor, his layman's tone to his explanation, his diverse background, it all makes him a prime candidate for the learning process. If you could take a dense and wise older magician like Crowley or Eliphas Levi and combine them with The Big Lebowski's "The Dude" you get Duquette. Truly a new breed and it all shows in this deck.

I have been studying the tarot since 1969 and have been a professional reader since1970. I have lots of tarot card decksSome very good, some silly, some just plain bad. I just received The tarot of ceremonial magic. Along with the companion book. Number one it will be impossible for 99% of anyone ordering these cards to understand them with outStudying the book first. Lucky for me I got the book a week before I got the cards so IWas able to study it. It is very difficult reading, but after going over everythingSeveral times I began to understand.The cards are basically divided up into three separate parts: the aces, the courtCards. and the 32 minor cards. Each of these sections show different magicalSystems. With each section you are ableTo work with different angels or spirits orEven demons. Also for reading the cardsSome of the cards show the I Ching symbols some show astrological symbols.I probably confused you at this point so allI want to say is that this deck is the realdeal for anyone brave enough to really getInto the occult. But he warned this deck is capable of helping raise angels,demons, or spirits, good or bad

Certainly a different approach to tarot. The cards are loaded with correspondences. Whilst the pictures are obvious enough, not to take anything away from Lons brilliant artistic genius, each card has additional symbols. For example Enochian Watchtower tablets, Tattwa symbols , Goetic sigils, Hebrew letters, Night and Day Angel and Demon names,and more. The use of the colour scales is employed.These cards are great for Astral work and skrying in Spirit Vision. These cards are absolutely unique and a lot of Magick in a box! The picture used to advertise is of the box, and is a copy of the 11th Atu, "Lust". A very detailed deck, but if one has some knowledge of Magick system you should enjoy this.

A good tarot deck can serve several functions. Lon Milo DuQuette designed this deck to do ONE of these functions very well.This is a flashcard reference Grimoire. DuQuette's instructive books contain the theory of ritual and this deck provides the visual references. Its part of a three fold work wrapped in a riddle simple enough for even the most lazy genius. THANK GOD!If you're interested in telling fortunes this deck will work as well as any. But if you are interested in practicing ritual magic this deck will save you a lot of time and paper-cuts.

If you are wanting a study deck that will bring into focus and deepen esoteric knowledge plus develop a more complete understanding of the Crowley and Waite decks and... you love, love, love DuQuette's writing and perspective, this is a good buy. Easy to read the art, a bit simplistic but it is consistent throughout and very well thought out. It has expanded my minuscule knowledge of the Kabbalah, Astrology and Tarot.

This and the classic Thoth deck by Crowley are my two favorite decks of all time. This is a Thoth based deck so the correspondences match up well if this is the system you are used to. If you like the Rider Waite-Smith Deck, may I suggest making the leap to this deck here. This deck helps you understand great links between all the I Ching, Tarot, Astrology, and much more in the Occult.Lon Milo DuQuette and hisvast experience helps contextualize all the information into an easy, and fun read, like having an Epiphany.

As being a relatively new student to the Tarot, I was drawn mainly to the these cards fron reading books by the same person who contructed this deck, Lon Milo DuQuette. I found his illustration and symbols combined, form a fascinating interpretation in comparison too the traditional or standard deck of tarot cards. They are indeed "magick in a box". Another wonderful piece of knowledge Mr DuQuette has shared, putting the tools in our hands therefor enabling those to reflect upon our lives assisting in finding those little hidden secrets.
