OHMOTOR Auto Darkening Solar Powered Welding Helmet Welders Mask Hood with Adjustable Shade for MIG TIG ARC CE Certification

Really struggles with pulse GTAW. finally got it to work on maximum sensitivity. But a shock to the eyes 👀 😳 🤔 😕

So I've been really daft in the past and done a lot of grinding without protection. When I saw this on Amazon, I decided enough was enough and I was drawn to this mask because if offers protection whilst grinding and welding and I get to look like spiderman at the same time as doing it!It arrived safely in a cardboard box. The mask was carefully wrapped and taped in bubble wrap and didn't come with a case. I suppose it is possible that these could be delivered damaged because it doesn't come in a hard case or in polystyrene, but these would add to cost and the latter isn't particularly environmentally friendly.Having watched the demo video and read comments, I realised that mine was already assembled. I don't know whether that is simply a choice the company has made or mine was a return but it was brand new with no damage or signs of use. So I didn;t have to deal with the frustration others have talked about in assembling it all.The helmet can be adjusted in terms of head size (like a bike helmet), angle (180 degree adjustment( and forwards and backwards. This makes is suitable whether you are short or tall, whether or not you have a large nose and can accomodate the height of the project being worked on. It's also possible to adjust the resistance when the helmet is tilted up and down by using the knobs closest to ears.The solar panel welding screen is fixed and cannot be removed or replaced. It comes with three dials. Left to right the dials are sensitivity (1-8), shade (9-13) and delay (1-8). Sensitivity and shade are important when welding and need to be set correctly to avoid being blinded. Equally, when grinding these settings are important because if it is too dark, it's too dangerous to grind. Delay impacts upon how long it takes for the filter to change from dark to light and this i sparticularly important when welding due to the very dramatic change in light intensity. It's not as imporant, but still quite important when grinding.So the helmet makes reference to being solar powered. What this means is that if you leave the mask out in the sun after using it for a long time, you don't need to plug it in or change batteries to continue using it. It contains lithium batteries, which should work for a long time.Cost and design are the major reasons I picked this over many others and I am pleased. The amount of different adjustments and settings available make this suitable for almost everyone who wants to either weld or grind, saving the cost and storage of two masks for different jobs. The mask is also very comfortable to wear based on all the adjustments possible, so it can be work for a long time.It is designed to be able to cope with knocks and drops and I see no reason why this cannot be used by amateurs and professionals alike.

It’s pretty good, it doesn’t have any fancy functions like a grinder setting, but good dimming and reaction time, all controllable. Good value for money, would recommend

Product arrived in an Amazon box which when opened revealed the helmet wrapped in bubble wrap but no signs of a manufacturers box, is this normal or should it have been in manufacturers packaging? The helmet itself looks good and it is what attracted me to it in this first place, coupled with the good reviews I thought it was going to be a really good buy.When fitting the helmet the adjustments are easy to carry out including the forward and backwards movement to bring it closer to your face. However I have quite a large nose and even with it all the way forwards it still hits of my nose in the down position.When arc welding I had real problems trying to get the shade setting correct, 9 was so light that the arc was blinding so nothing could be seen around it and 10 was so dark that it was impossible to follow a joint that was being welded. Worst of all just before starting a weld when I lowered the helmet the auto darkening lens assembly fell out. When checked the bottom 2 plastic retaining tabs are broken and not securing the lens correctly.Overall I like the look of the helmet but everything else is a let down. I don’t know if I just got a helmet that someone had previously returned to Amazon, hence no box, or if I got one damaged at manufacture that also does not work too well. I will be returning to Amazon and asking for a refund.

Really useful welding helmet. Was a bit of a faff to put together to start with as the instructions weren't very clear. But once together it works great. I've been using it for the last 3 months with no issues.You can set the speed at which it auto darkens and how dark it gets depending on what type of welding you are doing. Would recommend.
