It's a nice set

I was skeptical about the trout magnet, it sounded so gimmicky, reminded me of the "as seen on TV!" Banjo minnow type lures I had as a child (that never worked). I'm decent at catching trout with in-line spinners like Mepps Aglia and Panther Martins, but I wanted to try something different. I was blown away by Trout Magnet. This is not a gimmick. It works. I was catching fish way more frequently than I ever did with spinners, and pulling fish out of fishing holes I didn't even know had fish. Yes, any tiny jig head with plastic grub probably would work but if you're lazy and want to take out the guesswork, this system is the real deal. The only criticism are that, as many have said the plastic box that the lures come in is absolute junk, it doesn't even close correctly. You're going to need a separate small box with compartments to hold these things. Also, after casting out the lure you need to twitch it a bit and give it some action, otherwise fish won't bite. But other than that, if you're not catching trout with the trout magnet, then either there's no trout, or you're not fishing it right.

These are good light tackle options to consider when you know how to fish such light tackle. You need ultralight line (2lb to 6 at most) and an ultralight rod as well as light to no wind. This small a jig head sinks slow and needs to be retrieved slowly as well. You can also pair this with a small beetlespin which will increase weight and allow you to fish it more quickly and deal with more wind. The grubs have caught everything I know of in the pond I have tried them in (bluegill, crappie, largemouth). The grubs tear fairly quick and are not going to last through dozens of bites. The hooks do not have a significant barb to keep the plastic in place either. I'm pretty sure the most critical reviews have come from those not knowing how to fish them and using gear not suited for the purpose.

Vibrant colors in each of the varied assortment. Size is good for trout and even crappies. Soft bodies are durable and easy to put on the enclosed lead head jigs.

These lures look like they are going to do the job. I think the trout will really like them.

The lures worked pretty good and was able to catch a few fish the first day I used it (put some attractant oil on it). The issue I had with the product is that the clear plastic case that comes with it had its lid all warped so you couldn’t close it and both sides of the case were lifted so lures and hooked kept coming out. The only thing that was preventing the cover to fully open was a packaging tape that held the box semi closed. This came like this in the packaging and some of the lures and hooks were tossed in the cardboard box. I thought it was a one-off so returned it and re-ordered the product. When the 2nd one came, it had the same issue with the warped case cover. I had to go fishing the next day so ended up putting two rubber bands to keep the plastic case closed.

These actually smack the trout! Caught some 5 to 8 pounders with em.
