Great product
these can arrived with slight damage. But it has an upside if you buy from a reputable vendor (eg ships and sold by amazon) .Mine came slightly bent back at corner of flange only like yours. I called amazon they gave me a choice of return and replace at their cost, or $20 credit. I took the $20 credit and two whacks with a hammer made it perfectly flush before install. 2. People complaining about width are incorrect on size issue. 14" is correct width for install on 2x4 16" US standard on-center studs. ALL stud bay devices like this by -- all makers -- are 14 to 14 1/4 " for a reason. the bay of a 2x4 (1 1/2 to 9/16 x 3 1/2 nominal/actual) means 3/4" of each half of the stud is inside the 16" on center or an actual bay of 14 " 1/2 inches. No standard bay is more than 14 1/2 inches and they can easily be 14" if the studs are slightly warped or not put in precisely. so 14" is the proper width dor a product that goes in them -- as you can easily add a bit of wood to shim it. It is WAY easier to shim than to deal with removing studs and moving them over. 3) The lag screws are garbage. but in a way if they help you from cracking the studs which on many homes will be dry and brittle. Think of them as a canary in a coal mine warning, if they strip, your pilot holes are not wide enough. If you try and do it with better screws and no pilot holes you may crack your studs 4) I drilled a few small holes at the sides of the back and have mini bungee cords across about 2" from the top of the rifles, they can just be slipped in and out under that and it keeps them from falling out. this was easy after installation. this was good for me since to fit three one rifle is upside down. 5) it can be installed upside down if you need door reversed. 6) Mine is in a place where a utility panel could be expected., I bought one of these https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00M8UJUEM It may not fool an electrician, but it will make it look less like a safe and more like something less interesting and less notable to painters, maids, the kids friends, etc 7) Users should know if turning the lock is difficult to lock it, don't force it, but open and see if something is in the way. If you force it locked may be a bear to unlock

Love it, if u read the description well and need a light recessed cabinet this is the product for u
This product is well made sturdy and looks like it’s worth a lot more than listing price, this is in no way an alternative for a storage safe and is definetly not fire rated, it can be easily defeated by a determined burglar with the right tools and enough time to do his thung... the pros are: 1-Sturdy enough to keep fire arms out of the reach of children as long as you have the key hidden, i personally have it hidden well close by but it would be impossible to find it for a child, my child anyways, i also installed a magnetic door contact in the inside of this safe and connected to my alarm panel and programmed it as 24hr silent alarm zone so even if the system is disarmed and someone manages to open it i will be notified within seconds ... i also have a hidden bypass switch for the alarm for when i need to open it in regular scenarios like going to the range or getting one of my handguns for everyday conceal carry, and in case of emergency i dont use the bypass seitch and police will be dispatched when i open it for self defence and that will act as a panic button. 2-the key makes it easier to access fire arms in case a need for self defense come up, easier than a safe anyways. 3-the flush mount and recessed design make it easy to hide, i personally have it in my closet hidden behind the suits and blazers, The combination of home alarm and this safe will leave a burglar very short time to find/defeat this safe to access whats inside of it. 4- this cabinet will easily fit a couple rifles and 2 pistols and a couple mags and the small shelf can be used for passports or some ammo or pistol mags or some cash maybe Cons: 1- only one color available 2- the shelves are tricky to install and are not as sturdy as the rest of the cabinet 3-thats it!

Great light+ duty concealment option
Hopefully your home's builder was following the code rules about the spacing of the wall studs. If not, and they made it closer than it should, this will tell you. This was a tight fit for mine because part of the house was much older so the build quality back then was not 100% as precise but sturdy. Asides from some sanding to let it slide right in, the installation was straight forward. Pros: - decent gauge material overall - the edges/frame are strong, spot welded together with some folding over, sits relatively flush with the wall about 3-5mm out because of the thickness of the 2 layers of metal - the door is a lighter gauge metal (pro and con), it does open smoothly - key lock is not difficult to turn - it comes with shelving and screws for them, foam pads that line it (pro and con, see cons) - plenty pre-drilled holes for securing it into the studs and shelving heights (see con) Cons: - The door is lighter material, not punch through light but if you get a good bite with a thick crow bar or sledge then you're in trouble. I hid mine in an obscure place hidden behind stuff and I used paper with magnets glue to the back to just further camo it at quick glance. it literally looks like I didn't spackle some cut lines in some drywall repair at a glance if they even bother to explore further behind the stuff. Not a big con for my purpose. - the shelves included are thinner than I'd like and the pre-drilled screw holes are a tad bigger than it should be. I used fatter screws I had laying around. no biggie as after my shotty and rifle went in, there was only room for 1 shelf at the top. - The door lock system is the 2 bars (one up, one down) and the main rotating point is the cylinder attached to a turning metal plate. Not horrible considering it then secures at 3 points but not like you think when you want the bank safe thick cylinder retracting in to the door type. For hidden light security, it suits it's purpose just fine though. - plenty pre-drilled holes, good and bad. Bad if you want to minimize moisture exposure. Some walls let's say are draftier than others or maybe have a draft originating from a damp basement or something. If you have no choice but to put it there, it maybe a consideration. What I did was plug the unused holes with silicone caulk. Thinking of it now, I could have vapor barriered the install site before shoving the sucker into the spot. Hind sight is 20/20 right? Thus, I tell you guys now. haha I do have to mention that common complaints are that it gets damaged from shipping because the manufacturer send it in an inadequate box with a pitiful (not even dense enough) foam. I took a chance but hedged my bets by ordering through fulfilled by amazon. I was hoping that Amazon would put their box and stuffing over the manufacturer's to help protect it. I WAS RIGHT! I did have a slight bend in one corner from UPS probably repeatedly dropping it on that end but it was so minor 2 swings of my small sledge made it straight as heck again. It wasn't that bent but I'm OCD about such things. Overall, I would buy it again. UPDATE 1/26/2020: still good. I put an ever dry reusable desicant unit in to let me figure how bad the humidity was and plugging the holes and corners up worked nice. Only on hot humid days that I would have to dry out the everdry every 4 days or week. 1 issue showed up, the vertical lock bars that slide up/down thru the guides sit a little lower when the key is fully turned so it can get "stuck" but simple fix is just to either bend the top rung down a little or slip something to extend the guidance about 1/4 in or less lower and it's fine. Not a deal breaker but just a little nuisance.

Considerations before Buying
I read a number of the reviews here before I bought this item. It seems that a lot of the issues are around expectations. This is either a great or lousy product depending on what you are expecting to get. With this in mind, I have hit the high points on some of main factors to consider before a purchase. The benefits of this rifle locker are: * Low Cost - there are a lot of free-standing lockers that cost significantly more * In-wall mounting. I once saw someone - TV reality show - simply rip rifle locker off the wall to which it was mounted. The are cons, or simply limitations of the rifle locker: * Bent During Shipping. The rifle locker has a metal lip around the outside that is meant to hide the rough edges of the hole you make in the plaster. As a number of reviewers have noted, it is likely to arrive bent - mine did. It is easily straightened using a pair of vice grips. * Some Carpentry Required. The rifle locker is designed to be mounted between two studs in a wall. This means a few things. First, you will have to cut-out some dry-wall - unless your studs are already exposed. Second, you may find some surprises in the wall. the drywall guys hung an extra stud to make the corner, and so I had to cut out a piece of the 2X4. Third, the studs were less than perfectly centered. I used a rubber mallet to pound in the locker, but you may need to shim or cut your studs to get the locker to fit. * Locker Not Safe. This is closer to a school or Gym locker than a true safe. The lock is easily drilled and the steel can be opened with a good metal cutting blade. * Slower Access. The fact that the locker requires a key is going to make it slower to open than keypad equipped lockers and safes. * Size. Figure that you are going to put one rife and a couple of pistols in the safe. Any more is a welcome bonus. All said this is a great item for folks that are either on a budget, or are looking for low cost secondary storage. Personally, mine contains quick access weapons for my wife and I, while the remainder of my firearms are locked in a safe somewhere else.

Good design; horrible quality control and packaging
Pretty great product but horrible packaging and quality control. Two corners of mine were severely bent inward to the point the paint was chipping away. Not wanting to send it back I did my best to hammer them straight again. Install was really easy and overall fit was good. However, one of the metal brackets that's supposed to be permanently in place (I think to prevent items inside from affecting the movement of the locking mechanism) had already fallen off when I opened the box. Not sure if I'll bother trying to affix it back somehow. However, product does work as described, the shelves are a little flimsy but seem useable and products fits well in between studs. So the overall design is good and I like the product but quality control and packaging are horrible.

It's not deep, so don't expect too much.
I installed this in my unfinished furnished room, so I was less concerned about how it looks than I might be if I tried to install it on a finished wall people would see (but then why would I even install something like this?). My studs were exactly 16" center-to-center and it installed between then with a couple of millimeters cushion on each side. It took me about 20 minutes to install. I was a little dismayed that it didn't include shorter mounting screws since they are intended to screw into a 2x4. Unless they think a 2x4 is 2 inches wide. At any rate, the tip of each screw sticks out beyond the stud - probably no issue if it is covered with sheet rock, but in my case, because they are exposed, I probably should replace them with shorter screws so someone doesn't scratch themselves on the points. Other places were selling this same item for about $20 more and the reviews were complaining that one corner (or more specifically, the flange) was bent when it was delivered. Well, mine was bent too (but I saved $20). Using a pair of vice grips, it's easy to straighten out the bend, but it would probably require some skill to make it look like new. In my case, I really didn't care since it is hidden away in the furnace room. I just rotated the cabinet around and put the semi-straightened corner at the bottom. Once installed, it basically looks like a (very) large electrical panel. It is just as deep as the stud it's attached to (3.5") plus a half inch or so to account for the sheet rock if you install it on a finished wall. This means that it is impossible to actually store long guns except sideways. There is room for two or three - I have an M-1 Carbine, a Model 94 Winchester and a Hi-Point 9mm Carbine wedged in there, and it is *tight*. The cabinet comes with two shelves the width of the cabinet and a shorter one. I was able to attach one of the longer shelves at the top (if I was storing my 12 GA Goose Gun, it would have been in the way), and the short one a little lower down. They were able to hold some magazines for the M-1 and a couple of smaller handguns. Without any of the shelves, you have about 51" from the bottom to the top. The cabinet is heavy sheet metal. Could it be cut with a torch? Of course. A burglar with any brains would probably just saw the 2x4s and carry the whole thing out. This isn't a $1,000 fireproof safe that you need a crane to move. But it keeps little kids and curious house guests from getting to your guns, and your average Meth fueled smash and grab guy isn't going to spend the time to defeat the sheet metal (or the studs). The cabinet basically looks like a large electric panel - it would be a major eyesore installed anywhere but in a closet or a utility room. I don't see any way that you could possibly camouflage it if it was in your Den or Bedroom. On the other hand, it would look fine in a shop or garage, and it needn't be limited to holding guns. I could imagine attaching some pegboard to the inside and using it as a secure place to hang your tools. Plus, you get all that space back your rolling toolbox takes up since you're using what otherwise would simply be wasted space. It's 5 stars for my purposes - hidden away in a locked furnace room, and relieving overcrowding in my main gun safe. I have some other free studs down there, so I may pick up another one later.

Great Product for the money.
I was looking for a storage system for my guns especially my long guns. Watching videos of people able to grind into a large safe in a matter of minutes and also watching the actions of buglers raiding a home via home surveillance systems I decided on concealment. I purchased two of the wall cabinets and decided on a concealment project (this was also my first welding project). I must tell you that this is not a fire or bullet proof safe; however, for the price you are getting a well made product. Is the metal thinish, is the packaging poor to where the product may get damaged in shipping, do I hate the picture of what it is on the package for all to know what I have, sure, but people this is a sub $100 safe for your $100+ guns. Get some perspective. The only thing I'm not wild about is the screws that come with the product. oooh nooo I had to buy $4 in screws to satisfy my criteria, so be it. I created and welded a frame directly to the cabinet on the right so the mirror can hinge. That is why the cabinet is a different color because I had to repaint it due to all the welding work. I should of painted the cabinet on the left the same color but I got impatient. I also added gun magnets to hold pistols (used self-tapping screws to mount). I especially like the 'Danger Power' stickers that are purchased separately elsewhere, which will make someone think twice before jamming a crowbar to pry into. Another thing to consider is that the cabinet is not deep so you may have a problem with wide guns. Guns with sidesaddles or flashlights on the side, so if you have these things on your guns you may want a velcro sidesaddle or detachable side flashlight. Just remember----- measure, measure, measure, measure then cut and but a good stud finder that can register power lines and water lines. If you think you have a good space but there is a hot water line in the way when you cut the hole in the wall you will now have to repair the hole and find a new location. So get a good stud / water line / power line finder. Yeh StackOn you may want to look at making a version that come with a mirror and hinge already made to the cabinet $190ish..........

J U N K - - - Dont Buy !! !! !! (cheap hardware/faulty lock)
I REALLY wanted to like this thing.. It's such a terrific idea and so affordable. But, yet again, Ive been burned on the 'you get what'cha pay for' thing. Unlike most reviewers here, my package arrived undamaged, unbent, and in a timely manner. But, It is now lag bolted into my wall and unusable!! I unpacked the contents and set everything out neatly for installation. Read the instructions and was ready to go.. Cut out and removed the drywall, placed my new locking cabinet snuggly into it's new home in the back of my closet. Then, even after reading reviews of others having trouble with the cheap/soft lag-screws stripping and being too soft to back out if there is a problem.. I used them anyways only to end up having to painfully back them out with vise-grips by hand after stripping them!! ( @#*# ) After a run to a hardware store to buy quality lag bolts.. I was able to secure the cabinet into the wall flush in only a few minutes.. attaching the shelves very easily with supplied metal screws/washers.. perfect! Lets put our important personals in it. 2 rifles, a revolver, some jewelry.. etc. I close the door, turn the key to lock it.. the key wont come out.?! It's stuck. Now the key will not turn or come out and my valuables are locked INSIDE! (dumb me for not trying it out first) After minutes of wiggling, turning, pulling.. the key reluctantly jerks out of the lock.. but now my stuff is locked in. I try the other key, it slides right in, turns the lock, and I have access to my belongings once again. (wheww..) I take all of my stuff out, shut the door, turn the key to secure the lock but the key will NOT come out. No WAY Im gonna put anything important in there.. Now I have to figure out how to handle this with the least headache for me. Removing something that is lag-bolted into my wall and re-packaging with a key sticking oddly out of the side will be difficult to say the least. I do like the cabinet for its purpose and I suppose for me the gripe is with the lock/key, not the cabinet.. so I may have a locksmith come and put a good lock into it so It can be used as intended. But the fact that I have to do that with a brand new product is not good.
