DEAD DOWN WIND 12002 Bar Soap with Travel Container (4.5oz)

When considering what this soap was designed to do and when it's supposed to be used, it's a fantastic outdoor soap. It's important to realize that because it's not a liquid and therefore concentrated soap, you'll get far fewer uses out of this bar soap than you would with liquid soap - but how many times do you plan on washing outside before needing to restock? My pros and cons are below: PROs: 1. It's advertised as unscented and it actually is unscented. Important to me for the purposes I need it form. 2. It's advertised to "eliminate chemical and organic odors during and after showering" which I can only take the company's word for. From what I've seen, I feel clean after use and don't smell any scents on me (subjective). Now, it's important to note here that this isn't exactly indicative of the enzymes at work (normal unscented soap without enzymes can also make you feel clean and rid of scents), but it also not doesn't mean the enzymes aren't working - taking the company's word. 3. In terms of uses, one bar can will last beyond 1-3 average trips outdoors (I'm talking 3-5 days each trip). But, this also depends on how many times you're washing yourself and if you're mindfully conserving soap. 4. It comes with a travel case, and if you don't end up using immediately, the bar of soap is separately wrapped so it's well protected until use. 5. The company straight forwardly mentions on their case that the soap is made in the USA and the case is made in China. I was pleasantly surprised to see this because (1) I intentionally look for items made in the USA and (2) a lot of companies out there avoid this matter altogether considering the general opinion on Chinese-made products. CONs: 1. The case is not leak proof. I don't actually consider this to be con, but I know a lot of people out there looking at this soap like the idea that it comes with a case (thinking it's a watertight case). There are holes in this case to allow water to drain (like all soap cases) and to allow air in to prevent nasty things from building up. If you're thinking this case will retain whatever water is in it, it won't. The seams of the case are not designed to keep water in or out, so there you go. 2. If you're looking at this soap as a lightweight alternative to other soaps, this probably isn't it. Again, consider what this soap is. It's bar soap, so there's probably not a whole lot of creative possibilities with making it lighter. It's advertised to be 4.5 oz (127 g). I measured it with its case and got 5.66 oz (160.5 g) - which makes sense. If you want lighter soap for backpacking and BOBs, try a smaller liquid soap because there are smaller and lighter alternatives out there. But, this isn't a heavy item overall, so up to you on what you want to consider "lightweight." Overall, I like this soap a lot. It does what it's advertised to do and I haven't had any issues that I already didn't think were going to be issues with soap - lol.

I love this soap!! I use it year around!! Hunting season the whole family has a bar to use!! Great soap!!

Great for traveling, I love the case! The soap leaves skin feeling clean and holds down body odor better than some of the "deodorant" soaps. I have sensitive skin, and so far it has not irritated my skin.

I get a bar every hunting season and enjoy using the leftover soap. Nice to have a pure clean feeling.

I bought this mainly to keep in my toiletry bag for when I travel or for when I go camping. I love the case that it's in - it keeps out water and keeps in the messy soap after it's wet so it doesn't destroy everything else in my bag.

Soap is a good size (easy to hold), lathers well and does not (thus far) seem to dry out my skin like other No Scent soaps. I enjoy the fact that it comes with its own travel case so I can keep it separate from fragrance soaps. This also makes it easy to travel with. Very good buy that I highly recommend.
