Excellent tool, best buy for the money
This is the best drill you can buy for the money. My last Black & Decker drill just now broke after 15 years. The switch broke, but the motor was just as strong as ever. To put it in perspective, I have 6 drills (counting 4 cordless), 2 of which are 1/2 inch capacity Black & Decker units purchased 15 years ago in Walmart. The other one is still working and that must be some kind of record. This newer drill does not have a hammer switch on top, but the only place I ever used that was to drill holes in concrete with masonry bits. If you do a lot of that, it probably is not the best choice. This drill is very strong and delivers a lot of torque so it isn't what you need for light duty jobs. You need a strong arm and good grip as you would for any drill built to deliver maximum power (no adjustable slip clutch) and it can twist your arm if you don't time the release or reduction in power to coincide with the end of the drive/drill cycle. I drive a lot of torx (star) head T-20 and T-25 deck screws using a magnetic bit holder and drill holes with bits up to a foot long and use a lot of spade bits for holes up to 1-1/2 inches. If you don't back off in a timely manner, the screws will sink too deep. I don't pamper my tools and I much prefer a keyed chuck like this drill has for better holding power and durability. If you can't afford more than 1 drill you will spend extra time working the chuck key while swapping bits out. It is a little noisier than some drills because of the straight cut gear reduction, but this also reduces amperage flow at low speeds and increases motor life. The redesigned gear reduction system is probably the main difference in this drill and my 2 older ones. Hopefully it will last as long as the one it replaced. The cord insulation is softer and more pliable than the old units which makes it a little easier to manipulate in tight places in cold weather. This is an excellent choice for workloads which drain batteries on a cordless drill. Even my best cordless drills will drain 2 batteries on a hard day. This drill will do the same amount of work as my best cordless drills but you have to drag an extension cord around which is physically a little harder than lifting the extra weight of the battery on a cordless. That's the trade off. I don't know of any line of tools that delivers as much bang for the buck as Black & Decker. Recommended.

Great value!
Best corded drill on the market for the money. Most of the jobs I do , I have access to electricity. So I can drill all day and not worry about charging batteries.

Lots of Power and Torque
Received super fast. The drill works great and I really have only one complaint about it. The only thing I don't really like is that the secondary handle will not stay securely in place when the drill binds up. I tightened the handle as tight as it would go and it still slipped out of place with me upon the drill binding up on two occasions, with it actually coming OFF the drill on a third. With the handle and the drill housing both being made of a hard slick plastic, one just can't get it tight enough to keep from moving out of place when this powerful drill gets bound up. I placed a thin piece of rubber between the secondary handle and the housing which seems to have cured the problem, but you'd think B&D would have done figured that out long ago as I can't be the only one who has ran into this issue. Otherwise, this is a great drill with lots of power and torque.

Good quality and torque
Use to brush out my chimney, plenty of power. Used to drill dimensional lumber with 2 1/2" and 3" hole saw for plumbing. Worked well. Do not recommend for heavy drilling with metal (gears will strip) but a great drill for heavy wood drilling or mixing. Good value.

Glad to get it.
I like the drill and am very glad to get it but the only thing that bothers me is the push button to reverse the drill is close to the trigger and it can accidentally be pushed.

Powerful and inexpensive product
I was moving into my own place and needed a handy but inexpensive solution for, well, drilling things. I wanted a corded 7.0-amp-or-stronger drill, and this definitely fits the bill. The front handle, while plastic and possibly able to slip, is easily adjustable and can be made premanently fixed via several solutions. I've never had any problem with it staying firmly in place. I've used this to drill through wood and metal and it's always reliable. It's reliably powerful and a great buy as far as I have experienced. Pros. .price .build quality .added adjustable grip .power .1/2 inch .7 amps! Cons. .plastic handle could feel cheap

B&D All the Way
You just can't go wrong with Black & Decker tools. I have an old 3/8" drill that is still running fine but getting to the end of it's life and it became a problem when I needed a 1/2" drill. There is also the problem that it is either on or off. The great thing about this B&D is the ability to slightly pull the trigger and the drill will turn very slowly to allow much better starts with a greatly reduced chance of the bit spinning off the mark when you need to be precise. Lots of power and the adjustable front handle is great with its clamp on style, you can quickly rotate the handle to put it on or take it off and if you need to adjust the angle again, quick and easy with a quick turn of the hand, you adjust the angle and another quick turn locks it down again. I highly recommend this product.
