Kids think this is hilarious because it is. - I'm learning Latin with my kids, ages 5 and 7. We're 2 chapters into Familia Romana, and Ego, Polyphemus is just at the right level. Some of the verb tenses are beyond us, but it's all intelligible. When we began reading aloud, I translated for them phrase by phrase, but as we went along, I sort of phased it out and they didn't notice. After the 2nd chapter, I only translated new hard words, and they were following along just fine, with a little miming on my part. They both really love the story and beg for extra chapters. They also agree with Polyphemus that Acis's poem isn't any good- it's far too silly for a dignified 5 year old to respect. We are eagerly awaiting Lars Romam Odit! Review: What a great book! - I am just stating to learn Latin on my own. This is light and funny and makes great use of words which made it to English to help the reader quickly acclimate to Latin narratives. I will seek more from this author!

Genius!!! (Books for Latin Beginners)
I started studying Latin (just on my own) 3 months ago as a result of the pandemic, and I am so fortunate that Amazon recommended these novellas to me! It is amazing what a fun story can be written with so few words!!!

Great book
I recommend this book for any beginner in the Latin language. It is engaging and funny. It is based on the classical works of Vergil and Ovid. And the whole is written in a Latin which should be a piece of cake for anyone who is mid-way (or even less) through Lingua Latina Per Se Illustrata.

Un buen libro, tiene un vocabulario básico y una historia muy entretenida. Pasan desde Ulises (Odiseo) hasta Galatea y Acis por escena. Apenas para los principiantes.

Funny!
Hilarious retelling of the life of Polyphemus, who thinks of himself as a lover and a poet.

Con imágenes y un vocabulario accesible si eres hispanohablante. Es un texto para principiantes, pero muy útil incluso si ya sabes algo de latín, más si das clases y quieres ayudar a tus alumnos a ir aprendiendo poco a poco vocabulario sencillo.

Says it’s for beginners but it is challenging enough for keen pupils who have completed Entry Level. Great series of books!
