Made my system work much better.
These have really helped my system. My thermostat is on a wall that is also the return duck going up into the attic. Because of this I have never had correct reading from the thermostat, and I have had two different ones. This one you can change the reading by setting a correction value but this still did not help me. In warmer temps it needed one setting and another in cooler. It was annoying. I got these and placed one in the kitchen and the other in the living room. What I found they do is communicate with the thermostat and they create an average temperature for the house. This has made the readings much more consistent and accurate. I am much happier now and was able to remove the temperature correction from the thermostat. They were extremely easy to set up. The are also small and do not stand out in the room. I have not had any issues with them not picking us up and detect motion well.

Ecobee smart sensors function exactly as intended.
Ecobee smart sensors function exactly as intended. After reading the numerous negative reviews I feel obligated to opine. Many of these reviews seem to be based on incorrect expectations and understanding of what the smart sensors are and what they do. It is important to know and understand what they cannot and will not do;1) they will not manage your HVAC system to balance humidity and, or temperature in spaces in throughout your home,2) they will not manage your system to distribute airflow (be it cooling or heating) to a specific or individual space or zone in your home. The only way that can be accomplished is via a properly engineered and perfectly tuned system. In some cases zoning is required.Do not expect to install the sensors and immediately see balanced results. That is highly unlikely. It takes some experimenting and configuration adjustment to get to that point. This includes fine tuning your HVAC system. It took me about two weeks to get my system tweaked. That included making adjustments to both return and service side airflow and distribution to all the spaces in my home. This is where the sensors paid for themselves.I can now manage temperature in every serviced space in my home by manipulating sensors’ configurations. I do not have sensors in every space ie. (living room, kitchen, guest room, office, gym, laundry room, and 2nd bath). I concentrated on the space we use most often. Kitchens and laundry rooms are tricky anyway. My office and gym are generally cooler than the rest of the spaces—may be adding sensors later.

ecobee Smart Sensor - Works Great
The ecobee Smart Sensors hook into the app and ecobee thermostat super easy. Really little to no configurations at all, simply scan the QR code on the sensor and the app finds it and adds it to your thermostat. Not everyone needs additional sensors, but for me this was a must. The only thermostat that is installed is in the ecobee Smart Thermostat and it is installed in an area that does not see people cross its path very often. When it thinks that there is no one home it then stops heating or cooling to save energy (good thing). The bad part is when we don't go past the thermostat it thinks no one is home and the house either gets super cold or very hot until we go past the thermostat or manually adjust in the app. With these little sensors, you can have them in areas that people are in and it registers that someone is home and keeps the Heat or AC running. Some people may say why not turn of the the ability of the thermostat so it just stays on. Well, that defeats the purpose of a smart thermostat, and I do want it to be able to automatically turn the heating off and on if we are really not at home.Overall these are great little sensors and I think very well designed. I'm am pleased with them and happy that I have purchased them.

Good choice but battery or connectivity issue may happen
Loved these when i first bought them. My thermostat is on the second level and we sleep on the third floor so the temperature difference is about 10 degrees in summer. We wanted to make sure the upstairs was cool enough for us at night and this can be used at the temp beacon at times when you choose. Works great when it is working but when my power went out they had trouble reconnecting automatically. One reconnected well after a few attempts and the other did not. This was only two months after i bought them. Buying anew battery to see if that is the issue. Will update.

Effective solution to temperature control
We had some trouble regulating temperature between our bedroom and nursery on our new Ecobee thermostat and AC replacement. This seemed to be an issue related to the location of the main thermostat. We tried these as a solution to even out the temperature and make the room temp more accurate. The smart sensors were easy to set up in the app. I verified the temperature readings with different high quality thermometers. The readings were initially not very accurate, but this normalized over about 1 day and then were extremely accurate versus other thermometers. The bedroom temperatures are now much more reliable and even after installing the sensors. In the Ecobee app, you can set it to use the average of any combination of smart sensors and thermostat. They are also relatively unobtrusive and have a sleek look to them. The size also makes them easy to place without being obvious.
