This shade sail has been a great addition to our backyard. The fabric feels strong and well-made, and it blocks the sun effectively without making the space feel dark or stuffy. The butter cream color looks clean and bright, and it blends in nicely with the patio area. Installation was straightforward as long as you have secure anchor points, but you do need to make sure it’s pulled very tight so it doesn’t droop when it rains. Once it’s set up, it provides a lot of shade and stays in place even on breezy days. It’s held up well so far and has made our outdoor space much more comfortable during hot afternoons. Definitely worth it if you want an affordable, sturdy shade solution.

For 30+ years we have been living with a SW facing 2nd story deck that was always a problem around sunset. The sun's rays could not be blocked no matter what umbrella we used. I finally decided that we would try a sail and this was the best improvement I made to the deck since I recently refinished the surface. With roughly a 11' X 16' area to cover I ordered a 12' X 16' (about $43) allowing for a pitch downward of 25-30 degrees. The reviews and qualities of the sail were good with open-weave, slight stretch, UV block of about 80%, solid stitching and stainless fasteners. I first returned a tan sail because the color was not right but this "adobe" color provided just enough shade without being too red, ie, pleasing tone. Be aware that you do not get the material you need to fasten to your house or poles. With the sail you get nylon rope to use to attach, but I felt it too much of a weak/stretch factor and did not look professional enough. You need to buy an alternative separate. I chose a Sun Shade Sail stainless steel hardware kit (about $20 extra) which provides some optional pieces I did not use but still feel worth getting because you probably will not know what you need until you start hanging the sail. On the negative side there is really no instructions for installing the sail, how it is expected to perform over time or using the extra hardware. On the positive side, it's a pretty easy project. I installed the 2 D-hook fasteners to the house with the D-hooks of the sail using 1 carabiner each. Then I attached 2 "structural steel" 3/4" pipes (bought from Lowes) to my deck in two places using fasteners specifically made for this (extra strength, painted or galvanized. for 3/4 in pipe). Also, you need to buy the real sturdy 3/4 in pipe hooks to use from that section of the store. Finally, stretching the sail and installing. You should be able to stretch the material a bit by pulling it bhard, so keep this in mind on where to locate your poles. I used one turnbuckle to fine-tune this and ended up relocating a pole about 8" farther as you will notice the material stretch maybe 6 inches after being hung for a couple weeks and after some rain. It's solid as a rock and has stayed up in gusty winds. I have to say this is one of the best products I've bought in terns of doing the job I expected and the low cost of the project. it's not a difficult job to do and the sail can be taken down easily.

I wish it came with better mounting brackets but otherwise it has been great. Gives shade while still letting some light in. Helps prevent some water from coming in too. Price was reasonable for not having mounting materials. Very tolerant of the wind

Exactly how you fix a hot warping wood deck in hot July! Our deck is a 16x20, we ordered a 12x16. I hesitated on size to cut on cost honestly. I wasn’t sure if it would even work. Turns out this size gives pull room for the corners. So we bought four landscape timbers and anchored them into the four corner piston our deck. Cheapest way to get this ting in the air at the right height. I will say if you do this be prepared to sand the mess out of the timbers because they are rough cut for sure. At a price of $3.78 each I was willing to try. I’m very frugal but I like things to look like I spent some money on it. This thing is doing the job! We have had rain everyday since installing and it will belly down some then as all the water runs through and it dry it will go right back up. Provides super coverage from sun without making it way to dark. I love my sunshine coming in doors and windows. I would say it’s water resistant which interpreted means rains comes through slowly. To new to know if it will rip but right now it doesn’t look like it will. Great shadiness and so nice it blows in wind just ever so slightly giving a beach calming feel. Seems to be durable and very well made. I absolutely love this thing. We’re thinking we will take it down in the winter and put it up spring, summer and fall. If it tears up over the years I will buy another one and maybe go with one a little bigger. Ours gives about two foot all the way around that’s not covered but the way the sun hits it still provides shade.

My main issue with this product is its UV protection. It's described as providing 95% protection. In my experience, this is not accurate. As for the quality of the D-rings and stitching, the product is consistent with its online description. The charcoal colour is a light to medium grey, I was expecting a darker colour.
