Up Your Score 2013-2014: The Underground Guide to the SAT Paperback – July 17, 2012

I tutor SAT prep and so have many SAT study guides. In my opinion, this is the best one for both students and professional tutors. It is full of expert tips and tricks (yes there are tricks to taking the SAT). Because it is funny and enjoyable to read, students don't balk at spending time on it. I combine this with The Official SAT Study Guide, 2nd edition which I use for actual practice, ignoring the "study guide" part of that book. Up Your Score's sample questions are mostly tongue in cheek so using the real tests in The Official SAT Study guide is a must.SUMMARYIn my over 10 years of successfully helping students raise their SAT scores, this is the best study guide that I've found.

My girl got a 27 on ACTS when Musslemen WV teachers told her that would be impossible, only expect a 21. And then our governor gave them a 5% raise? Don't listen to the teachers, buy this, use it, you will do great!

This book was great for learning all the tips that are usually in books like the Princeton Review. It also has a good vocabulary list that includes sentences which make learning those words easier. However, this book is only to get so high on the SAT. If you're aiming for a very high score, you need to supplement this book with books that prepare you for a higher score because this book only gives you a base.

Tis book is nice because it provides a students perspective. My daughter instantly connected to what was written in this book because it was written from a students perspective.

This book has a clear approach and strategy. The only con about the book is it focuses less in the Field of Mathematics.

Great vocab list inside. Pretty informal tone, but some good information. I used this as a student and now use it as an SAT tutor.

My son who, like many high schoolers dislikes many things designed to help him academically, actually enjoys reading this book. It is a great way to get him to effectively prepare for the SAT. He has not yet taken the test so I can't make an ironclad assessment, but it appears to be a worthwhile purchase.

My daughter has started using this to review for upcoming testing. It explains how to approach and understand the questions in addition to having examples. I think this will be extremely helpful information for any student regardless of grade. It could help with every day reading comprehension and general test taking. Would recommend.
