This changed my life.
Prepare yourself for a long, TMI review. Some background: When I got my period at the age of 12, I knew I had many long years of pain ahead of me. My cycle has always been extremely painful and affects my daily life. My blood flow is heavier than anyone else I know, my cramps are debilitating, I get hot flashes and headaches, back pain, mood swings, and messed up intestines. In short, my period is awful. My mother has always used pads, so that's what she started me on when I got my first period. We soon realized mine was much heavier than hers, so I switched to Kotex maxi pads. From the ages of 13 to 19, that is what I used. But one wasn't enough. I had to overlap two maxi pads in my underwear just to keep the blood from leaking out. I often wore spandex or tights as well as an extra layer of security to make sure the heavy blood flow didn't escape. I had to go to the bathroom every half an hour or so just to clean up all the blood and adjust my very thick and uncomfortable (not to mention expensive) pads. I was constantly worried that I would leak onto my clothes (because that happened several times). At night, I had to lay a towel down on my bed and wake up at 2 or 3 am just to go to the bathroom to wipe away all the blood. For years, I dreaded my period every month because it was so much to handle. I tried tampons but after two or three negative experiences with them, I gave up. I figured I was simply doomed to be miserable for 5 days out of every month. About 5 months ago, I decided to cough up the money for a menstrual cup. I had an amazon gift card, so I didn't feel like I would be wasting any money, and I was searching for a way to reduce my environmental impact and save some money. If it helped my period at all, it would be a bonus. And I am SO glad I did. As someone who has rarely ever used tampons, I was a little nervous to try this out. But I took an online quiz and it suggested the Saalt cup as a good option so I went for it. First, the packaging was discreet and adorable, and it came with a cute little bag for storage, which has come in handy. It also came with an instruction booklet about how to use the cup, insert it, and keep it clean. The first cycle I used it, it was a little tricky to insert (I eventually found that sitting on the toilet and using the c-fold work the best for me) but I could not have been happier once I became comfortable inserting and removing it. It is not uncomfortable in the least. In fact, the only time I really ever feel it is when it pops open inside. Sometimes, I completely forget I'm using it. I can wear it for up to seven or eight hours (it's supposed to last twelve, but again, I have a lot heavier flow than most) which is a godsend. No blood! For eight hours! Sometimes I wear a panty liner with it if I'm having a really heavy day or doing a lot of moving around, but I've found that I don't really need to most days. It hasn't leaked a single time. Sleeping has become so much easier. No towel, no waking up in the middle of the night. I empty the cup before bed, and again in the morning. If you are grossed out by your blood or feel uncomfortable at the thought of getting a little messy while taking it out, this may not be the best choice for you. But I don't really mind at all. It's really easy to pinch and take out then rinse and reinsert. I left the little stem on at the bottom as it helps me adjust it, but it can be trimmed off as well. I have also found that boiling it after your cycle is an easy way to keep it clean. This cup reduces period odor considerably. No longer do I worry that other people will think I smell like a menstrual cycle. And the cup itself doesn't hold much odor after use either. For the price, this is an incredible investment. It will last years and I no longer have to spend any money on disposable pads, which harm the environment. Because of the Saalt cup, I no longer dread my period. I have told all of my friends about this product and I think they're getting tired of hearing about how amazing I think it is! I've never reviewed any Amazon purchase until now. I'm telling you, it's that good. If you are considering giving a menstrual cup a try, go for it! It seriously changed my life.

Perfect starter cup. Do the test!
Ok. Here goes. I researched for more than a year before getting a menstrual cup. I was worried about allergies cuz i have them often with some hygiene products and the difficulty of putting in/removing the cup cuz i am a 5ft 200+ lbs chubby girl. When i was certain i wanted to try it, i did my test in putacupinit.com and i qas surprised it recommended me this one, exactly the one i was looking at. It arrived suoer fast, along with a silicon cup and soap i ordered to take care of it. I practiced with my hands a whole week before i had to use it, did the recommended cleaning (boiling it for a few minutes, washing it with the soap etc) and gave it a try. First period was difficult even with reaserch cuz like i said im chubby and couldnt find a good enough position to reach perfectly. I later found out that sitting in the toilet and applying it just like a tampon while using the tulip hold (in instructions) helped a lot. Taking it off was a little more difficult but managed first holding on to the stem and guiding myself with it so i could press on to the cup and release the vaccum hold. It was amazing. Didnt feel uncomfortable at all, even less noticeable than a tampon. Didnt stain my clothes the first days, had a minor inconvenience one of the last ones but it was on me cuz i didnt apply it correctly (you could use a pad to prevent that while you learn how to apply, maybe the reusable cloth kind?). I must admit it takes a while getting used to using it, but that was expected and they let you know in the instructions. This second period has been SO EASY to manage, i apply it at my first try and remove it fairly easily. The cup has never leaked on me because of overflow and i have a heavy flow sometimes. I am ready to start this new, cheaper and less contaminating life that saying goodbye to pads and tampons give you. Saalt is a great starter cup, its soft, practical and enough.

My wife is very happy with this cup. First cup was too firm and small for her, it was leaking. This cup doesn't leak, it is not too soft and not too firm. She said, It opens easily inside, and she doesn't feel it during the day. However she said it is very hard do choose your individual size, so she recommends to watch instruction on You Tube before you make your choice, there is one channel that helped her a lot, and explained all the things she had questions about. They also offer there a quiz (test) at the end of the test you will get recommendations, which cup to choose. All in all - very nice softness, shape and handle.

This cup works for me, you need to know yourself as much as you can and understand cups a lot to get one that works really well. I have a high cervix and though this isn’t the longest cup I can reach it to remove in a certain position, which works for me. The stem is a soft kind, some review this as bad but it’s not bad for it’s intended purpose at all, it’s meant to be soft so you cannot feel it by your public bone or creating any friction, for this reason, if you need a firm large stem to grip and wiggle you will find it way too small and soft so this cup & saalt in general isn’t for you! It’s very bendy because the stem isn’t meant to be pulled straight down, you find it, pinch and slowly wiggle left then slowly wiggle right and repeat as you pinch further up the stem until you find the base, once there you reach in further to pinch the base and wait for the suction to release and then wiggle gently to remove the cup. It has 30ml capacity (I got the regular for high cervix) meaning I can have long gaps between changing on my heavy day, once sealed I don’t leak at all nor has it ever unsealed it’s self. I do lots of physical housework and exercise and yoga in my cup, I shower and bathe with it, bowel movements also don’t move it but this could be different for you. For reference I go 12 hours on a light day, and sleep between changes, and go 6-8 hours on a heavy day and sleep between changes (all white sheets but Im not afraid it’s genuinely never let me down once sealed) On the subject of me choosing the regular size, I don’t have a heavy period for more than one day, I’ve not had a baby, I’m 24, I have a high cervix. The small is only 5ml less capacity but the base of the cup sits higher in you so this is why the regular is recommended for higher cervix users. The cup is one of the better to insert as it’s soft and silky. Once in I wait for the pop (Proper seal created) instead of poking around up there, usually happens between 1m and 30m after insertion. Some people do reach up and try to make it happen but this is a softer cup meaning it may not instantly pop open and seal for you. But i find it’s fast enough with low effort from me to work well for me. This cup being soft is good for sensitive bladders or if you’ve had firmer before and felt it when you shouldn’t, mine figuratively disappears once the seal is made, I feel some fullness until it seals. The product itself is great quality silicone, cleans well and feels great, if cups were a thing to show off I would parade around with this grey beauty outside of my body rather than in it 😂. Packaging is all cardboard minus one disk of plastic which is easily removed for recycling.

I must say menstrual cups are very personal, what works for others may not work for you. I too have been on an expensive journey of finding the right one, and Saalt soft works PERFECTLY for me. This doesnt cause pain, discomfort or any pressure on my bladder, once inside, i forget about it. Cup size is enough for my heavy days (8-10hrs and i am a heavy bleeder). I've tried Intimina lily compact (great for beginners but too small for my heavy flow - i find emptying my cup every 1-2 hours too much of a hassle, 4hrs on "light" days), Intimina lily cup (too long and was sticking out of my body - binned), divacup too stiff (cramps hours after inserting - binned), tampon tribe (absolutely the worst cup ever!!! it never ever opened up in my body and i ended up hurting myself trying to adjust it and trying to open it in my body, my worst nightmare - DO NOT RECOMMEND AT ALL!) Cups do change life, i dont experience cramps anymore and days that i do, it goes away less than an hour after putting in my cup. I feel free and airy, i dont have to wear pads anymore, and i hate my cycles so much lesser now.
