From tape deck to cd player in 3 hours!!!
Installed this in my 06 Taurus SE yesterday (with a single DIN Pioneer deck) and I am beyond happy!!! Just for complete disclosure- I am a woman, moderately technically savvy, and very good at finding videos on Google to help me tackle most any problem. The hardest part was running the wiring from the trunk. It's a pain in the butt to maneuver it through all of those little tight spaces (from the speaker/antenna hookup, through the back of the seat, down into the gutter underneath the driver's side rear door trim, to the driver's side front door trim gutter, up through the side dash panel, underneath the dash and up behind the hole that the new faceplate and deck will be going back into.) I DID have a friend come over just to make sure I didn't tear anything up beyond repair, or blow myself up, and I'm really glad I did because the literature regarding the final steps (splicing and crimping the deck's pigtail wiring into the wiring that was run up from the trunk) is VERY vague! In the end, it was mostly a job of matching up the colors, but there were a couple of wires that we didn't use (because my car doesn't have those options) (i.e. the retractable antenna), so these we just capped off. I'm definitely happy I had someone else to help out with that part because it's a little tricky. Overall, I would say it took us about 3 hours to complete the project from start to finish, but part of that time was spent procuring a wire stripper/crimping tool and the little connectors and caps for splicing the deck to the main wiring pigtail. My oversight... In the end, it fits perfectly flush, everything works just like it should and I don't have a TAPE DECK in a 2006 vehicle anymore! Hallelujah!!! Would recommend this product to anyone looking to remove the factory tape deck and do an aftermarket cd deck install. Very, very, VERY happy with this purchase!!! 😊😊😊

Fits nicely
Works in my car pretty well, I have had it for 6 months now, and it doesn't shake or move around. Nice it came with the necessary wires to run to the rear of the car for an aftermarket radio as well.

Not to hard to put in. Came with everything you need to get your car bumping. Clips are kinds loose but I’m not sure if I messed something up myself.

Great product
Great product bought this and put a stereo in my daughters 2006 ford taurus super easy to swap out with the original. Definitely would recommend it, i used this one and bought a single din stereo with a large screen because the double din one like this is around $220 so there's a big difference.

Worked and looks great, not as easy to install as I thought it would be
I have an 07 Taurus and needed to replace the factory stereo which quit working. It wouldn't eject CD's any more. Anyway, I bought a nice Kenwood from Amazon, and this kit to install it. The fit is excellent and it really looks great. I have no complaints with it at all. It was not easy to install, though. The biggest problem are the wires that need to be run back to the trunk for the unit to access the antenna and amplifier. I had to practically take the car apart; take the back seat out and run the wires under lots of plastic. It took me most of the day to install it. However, once installed, it is really satisfactory and I am glad I purchased it.

A Great Solution.
So I purchased this kit for my wife's '07 Taurus. She has a long commute and enjoys listening to podcasts and audiobooks via her mp3 player. Previously, I'd been using the PIE adapter that is so very popular. You can see it here: [...] However, I had TWO of these units fail on me. On both units, one of the channels just quit working. Crutchfield wouldn't replace them, as there is only a 90 day warranty on them. So I went in search of a more permanent and reliable solution. Thus, I found myself looking at the Metra kit. I picked up for what I think is a good price (under $70) and I had some gift cards for Best Buy leftover from Christmas so I went online and picked up a relatively low-end Pioneer Head Unit that has an AUX input on the front plate and rear RCA inputs. The install went very easily, make sure you have the loop things for pulling out the stock head unit. Running the wires to the trunk was not hard at all, and it was actually very easy installing the Pioneer HU into the Metra unit since it was all out of the car when you do it. The overall fit is very snug and tight in the car, and it all works very well. The plastic its made of doesn't match the original unit, but then, I wasn't expecting a beautiful amazing piece of equipment. I wanted functional, and it is. Overall, I would readily recommend the Metra Kit to ANYONE with a Taurus / Sable along with an affordable aftermarket head unit. In the end, its reliable money well spent.

Let’s you have Bluetooth stereo installed instead of being stuck in 2005 lol. Easy enough install just match up the colours run the wire harness through the car and boom. Only issue is I have an on and off airbag light now after install the code is for the passenger airbag off light, some reason the car doesn’t like it (2005 ford Taurus)

El adaptador cumple muy bien con su función. No es complicado. solo cambiar con paciencia los controles del Aire acondicionado para no romper nada. Y se conecta la iluminación de los controles con un conector que incluye hacia el conector original del radio.

Good piece! DO NOT BUY ADAPTER HARNESS as suggested by Amazon’s “frequently bought with…” suggestion, the harness is built in with this unit! Uses factory climate switches that need transfer over. Very happy with finish!

Works out OK...simple install..however, AM reception greatly reduced due to extended length of antenna cable which doesn't seem to be well matched to the tuner .

Installed flawlessly nice and sturdy.... Dial pictures are stickers... Only complaint. otherwise works great, especially the wire harness it comes with...
