Sophisticated Unisex, Leaning Masculine
This is a chypre floral fragrance – green notes of sharp bergamot, clary sage and bitter oakmoss combined with geranium/rose, orange blossom floral notes. I do not think there is rose in this but the geranium brings a rose-like scent. It opens with lots of bergamot & citrus, moving on to clary sage & orange blossom and then oakmoss & vetiver with lots of tonka bean. The tonka kind of takes over the bergamot opening & moves on with more of the sage and costus. The tonka lingers with the ending and a bit of a dirty note from the costus. Costus brings that sensuality that is often achieved with musk. It has a slightly dirty hair smell. I prefer costus to musk – it is more sophisticated. There is a lot of tonka bean in this fragrance and in this case, it brings a slightly sweet, tobacco scent. I really like it.This is a unisex fragrance but more masculine than feminine. It is a discreet and sophisticated fragrance – it is not overpowering but it is distinct with moderate sillage. One spritz is enough to last all day without offending others. It was brought to the market in 2012 but smells almost vintage. It does not have that slap-in-the-face scent of many of the vintage Robert Piquet like Fracas (I love Fracas) or Bandit but it does have an old-fashioned vibe that would have appeal to a broader audience. This lasts and lasts on my skin. The bergamot & citrus fade but I can still smell the tonka, sage, vetiver & oakmoss after 10 hours.

If you love men's cologne then you should love this
Most men's cologne smell the same to me, there's one overpowering note that I can't identify that I don't like. This perfume smells like a lighter version of every men's cologne I don't like. My husband didn't think it smelled bad but I hate it. Since this is advertised as being unisex, I will give it to him.Scent is a very personal thing and if you love the smell of men's cologne then this maybe the perfume for you.

I like it
I was a little hesitant to order Notes. I always check the reviews at Fragrantica before adding a bottle to my collection and this one seemed to be quite a polarising, love it or hate it sort of scent. My usual strategy is to stick with classic fragrances that are almost universally loved, as I live in a retail desert and have to blind buy most of the time. It doesn't make sense to invest in something I may hate on first sniff. After wearing Notes for a day I'm pretty pleased. I'm terrible at describing fragrances (smoking for 20 years before I wised up left my nose blunted), but this scent is a very pleasant combination of mildly spicy citrus that hits me just right. The opening is quite bold, with a quite appealing zesty orange blossom that I worried might become cloying, but on my skin it quickly settles down to something much more subtle. Almost a skin scent, in fact, much more subtle than I'd expect from an EDP. After half an hour you'd have to get up close and personal to pick it up, but if you got that close you'd detect a mild, fresh summery hint of citrus. One of the negative reviews I spotted at Fragrantica suggested that Notes smells like 'every fragrance at the mall in 1995', and I don't fully disagree. There's something quite old fashioned to this one, and I could definitely imagine picking it up in the overwhelming mish mash of fragrances at the perfume counter of a 90s mall, but I don't think that's a bad thing. In fact the first thing that comes to mind when I smell Notes is that this is the fragrance I'd pick if I really liked CK One but I felt it had become so ubiquitous - and so associated with young people - that I could no longer wear it. This is a zesty, unisex citrus for more mature people.

Great scent!
Very nice fragrance that is quite long lasting. The zesty citrus scent really smells nice.

Is it me or does it smell like
Cool water cologne a little? It is hard to rate cologne because smell can be subjective. I think it smells pretty good. It has a nice light orange, oak, bean type of smell to it. I think this can be used just lounging around the house, going into the office or on a date. I do think it is a little strong and definitely more noticeable than most colognes. I am not quite sure if this is for a male or female but I lean towards my husband wearing it. This is a very long lasting fragrance so at least you are getting that value out of it. As expensive as this bottle is I don't care for the presentation. I find the box it comes in, glass and labels to be lacking in the "wow" factor.

Not Great
I was hoping for more, especially with this price tag. It smells like a cheaper scent -- flowery with some citrus -- but maybe a bit too much flower -- or too 'old'. I do like where they are trying to go -- but for the price it needs to either be really unique, or just knock it out of the park in every aspect -- but from the first spray it was kind of meh.

My favourite
Says it's for women but it's a unisex cologne - I'd actually say it's more for men but anyone can wear it.One of my favourites
