Beautiful book but no illustrations!
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. Love the hardcover artwork! The red roses glisten as you move the book. It is as pictured and is absolutely beautiful with the golden edged pages and fairy resting in the pink flower against the baby blue background! The only disappointment is that there are NO illustrations except for on the inside front and back cover.

Great but not true original tales
Arrived on time. Packaged nicely. Book looks as pictured. I gave 4/5 * as these are not the true original stories. However take note, these are NOT books for children. It will take a young adult/adult to appreciate them. While still horrific tales, they are not the originals, which is why I purchased & needed this book to cite facts for a paper. If it’s for your enjoyment as a literary fan, such as myself, it’s fine. While it did not serve my purpose for purchasing, I’m happy I bought it for my collection.

Very tiny font, no index, few illustrations
1. Very few illustrations, like one small illustration every 200 pages.2. Very tiny print, 6-8 point font.3. Incomplete. It was missing about 6 tales.4. The table of contents is NOT alphabetical so it takes forever to find the tale you're looking for.5. NO index at all.I was so disappointed in this. It's not complete and it's not really illustrated. Combine that with the teeny tiny font and thin paper and this book is not worth your money.

Thin pages, and not cut properly
From the outside, this looks like a beautiful book. However, I was disappointed to find out that the one page (so far only found one) wasn't even cut properly... as seen in the pictures. The paper is also incredibly thin. Total letdown.

Beautiful design but doesn’t have pics...
I personally love the cover and the fact that it is the complete story collection. I don’t mind that there isn’t any pictures because I am not reading this to any children. However, I think there is a sense of beauty in using your own imagination to bring these stories to life! And for those people saying it is tiny print. It really isn’t.. it is the standard 12pt New Times Roman font. We are so used to reading things on our phones or computers which are typically in a larger font so I think some people forget that traditionally books were/are printed this way. So keep that in mind when you are purchasing books if you aren’t an avid reader.I love this book and I am so happy with this purchase!

An excellent gift idea for the young at heart!
Classic stories from the source!I bought this so that I could read it to my children before bed. They really love the stories and I feel like it's better than watching their movie counterparts. I feel like the morals are still applicable even in this modern age and perfect for young listeners/readers. The stories aren't that difficult to read however they do read better when spoken aloud adding emphasis when storytelling.Pros:All of the Fairy Tales we know in one beautifully bound bookVery easy to read, even better when read aloudCons:Pages are a bit on the thinner side and can tear easily if mishandledOverall:The book is a great gift for a young reader, an eager listener, or for someone who just wants to add this beautiful book to their libraries!

A serious collector's item
The book is high quality with beautiful binding and pages are edged in gold. A real collector's book. However, I was looking for a collection of bed time stories to read to my four year old. There are no illustrations and the print is small. The language is rich but too old fashioned for my four year old. This is a book for adults.

Buy It! You’ll be so happy!
This collection of stories is perfect. I have bought 19 of the Canterbury Classic Leather Bound books. THEY ARE BEAUTIFUL! The quality is incomparable. The acid free paper. The gold gilded page edges are lovely to look at, and a joy to turn. They all have a built in ribbon bookmark. 2018. My resolution was to start my home library; compiling the classics first. And, these are must have classics for anyone who genuinely loves books.

Book looked a bit old with yellowing pages
I'm very disappointed. I bought a leatherbound special edition as new of Hans Christian Anderson fairy tales and the book arrived unwrapped and pages were yellow like old paper and the print was faded. I wasn't keen but assumed it was an antique effect as it was bought new. I gave it to someone as an heirloom gift and ordered a similar book in the series and that arrived wrapped in cellophane with new white pages and normal dark unfaded print. I had a look on YouTube book reviews to see if anyone had reviewed the book, they confirmed that the book was indeed supposed to match the other books in the series and have white pages normal bla k ink. Either my book was used, or it was old stock. Or someone had removed the wrapper a while ago (it arrived unwrapped) and the paper has oxidised. It was like an old library book of about 10 yrs or more. However, it was sent to commemorate the birth of my premature niece, I didn't have time, and it took me time to find out if it should be wrapped and find examples of the book that confirmed Barnes and Noble print in a dark print on bright white premium paper with gilt edges. I feel a bit cheated and embarrassed.

Educational. Entertaining and Traditional Tales for kids
I am an avid reader of just about anything and now with grandchildren am reading traditional fairytales to the kids before the PC brigade get fairytales banned.I bought the kindle version which is convenient to use without lights whilst reading to the little ones. The tales are shortened versions which works fine with toddlers.I would prefer the printed version because of the artwork pictures. Even though one needs a light at night, I read with the kids all the time and my darlings often grab my hand to come and read. The four year old reads to the two year old with the aid of pictures. The printed books help a child’s imagination and stimulates interest and questionsAll that said, the printed version is ridiculously expensive for a thin book, large print and shortened story versionseducational and entertaining

Wonderful book binding and golden pages
I bought this as a present for a friend, and we both really liked the binding. The pages actually have a golden crest/edge and there is a neat green bookmark tied to the book. Someone designed this book with love and passion. I was quite surprised by the size of the book. I've probably only read half of his fairytales in my lifetime despite growing up in Denmark.

This book is for people who like to look at covers more than they like to read the stories
I was disappointed with this purchase. The type is very small and dense so reading it is not pleasurable. The illustrations don't appeal but this is a matter of personal taste so the rating is based upon the tiny text size in a children's book.
