First of many. Not bad, not great. Does what I wanted it for.
OK, this is going to be a real good review as this is the first one of these models that I'm getting. I chose this one first because it was the least expensive of the ones with cooling fans. I have an upgraded laptop and it can run hot so I wanted the fans even though there is a maker of these who claims they don't need fans because of the ventilation openings in the main platform. I don't buy it, although I did order one without fans, again starting with the least expensive. I haven't received it yet as it ships from China and takes anywhere from 3 to 8 weeks. I'll review that one once I've used it for awhile so I can clear up the issue of whether the fans are necessary or not. I just think the fans at least have to help, and why not? It was only $8 more. While we're on the subject of the fans, I did notice that many people were asking if the fans blew up into the bottom of the platform, or down away from it. This unit did not come fully assembled, but the fans were attached to the platform. These ones did blow up into the laptop, however they are very easily removable and I turned them around so they were blowing the heat down and away from the bottom of my pc. I think that is better for getting rid of the heat generated by it. It also made the fans run quieter, not that they were super loud to begin with but you could hear them quite prominently at or around the unit. Now I can't hear them at all, I had to look to make sure they were on. In doing so it also switches the on/off switch so that it is facing toward you as you would be sitting, instead of away from you under the back end. It's much easier to get to it now to turn them on or off so that's also a plus as well as orienting the USB plug to the rear, at least for my main PC as my USB ports are near the rear of the laptop on the right side. My other laptop is the same make but a different model. The USB ports on that one are toward the front on the right side and the 2.0, which I only really use for the dongle for my wireless mouse is on the left side about midway. The supplied cord does reach all fairly well but the way this unit is put together, the upper leg pivots are at the front, closest to the user, and it can get pinched in there so if you have ports that are near your sitting position relative to the stand, it would be wise to keep an eye out for that. The supplied cord is USB on the end that plugs into your PC for power to the fans but the end that plugs into the fan housing is a round plug similar to the power cord that plugs into many laptops, both of mine included. I haven't looked for a suitable replacement yet but you can't just grab a spare mini USB from a phone or other device that may be kicking around somewhere. Both of my PCs are 15.6" Dells. One is a traditional laptop 15-3567 and the other is a convertible 2 in 1 with the 360° hinge, 15-7586. They both fit well with about an inch or so on either side and about half an inch at the rear so I don't think a much bigger laptop would work well on it. The shipping on this one was fast, it came the following day. I ordered the other one at the same time and my tracking # says it's still at least a week and probably more, could be up to 6 so that's a big difference besides not having fans on the other one. This came in a brown box without any indication of what it was. That didn't bother me as is the case with many of the inexpensive finds, I usually get what I pay for and fancy packaging that's just going to end up in the waste doesn't do anything for me anyway, so yeah , save that for the people it matters to, whoever they are. Moving on, in the box there was the main platform, the 2 leg assemblies, the mouse attachment, and a plastic hardware bag with the front bumpers that keep the laptop or whatever you have on it from sliding off the front of the platform and potentially into your lap, the thumb wheel bolt, and a large plastic fender washer for securing the mouse platform to the leg. You technically could attach it to either side, however the tapped hole that you screw the thumb wheel into, from the inside of the leg out, is not symmetrically placed in the mouse attachment so it would sit quite a bit further away from the user if attached on the left so I would have to say that, even though there is a hole in both leg assemblies for it, it's primarily designed to be attached to the right side leg. And it really wouldn't be impossible to use on the left, you'd just have to reach a bit further back. However I just took mine off because it's really too small to be effective unless you have dpi settings at the lowest on your mouse, if you even have a mouse that has adjustable dpi. Also it's very smooth surface with not much of a ridge and the mouse doesn't like to stay put on it even when it is level. There's no padding on it, just hard plastic surface. You could cut a standard moue pad down to size to fit the piece but the stand wobbles a bit when I'm typing and I don't always have the unit flat, so the attachment is of no use to me. Now when I said the unit wobbles while I'm typing, keep in mind that I am a heavy typist, I seem to hit the keys rather sharply and with some force so a lot of that is from the way I type. I wouldn't go so far as to say the stand is flimsy, however it isn't very stable either. It hasn't fallen over on me or anything, it just bounces a bit when I type. I imagine the legs don't take a lot to break. I wouldn't call them fragile but they are ABS plastic and not super thick so they don't have a lot of rigidity to them and probably wouldn't take much to break. The adjustment mechanisms are a bit cumbersome and it takes a minute to get the hang of moving things around to find your sweet spot so if you would be moving it around and switching positions and configurations a lot, it could prove to be a pain in the butt to use. I just use mine when I'm lounging around on or near my couch and don't have to adjust it much so it's ok with me. There are many ways this thing can be configured though, all 6 adjusters can move 360° including the platform, however the mouse attachment won't work in all possible set ups and it won't fold down to the completely flat setting with it attached as the thumb wheel bolt is in the way of the legs folding flat together. Also the bottom legs don't have any sort of grip to them so the unit will slide around on a smooth surface such as my coffee table if not careful. I went to the hardware store and got some rubbery stick on feet for it. All in all, I think its a good unit for the most part. There aren't many options around for a unit that can do what it does. Few small design/assembly flaws but nothing that I couldn't overcome, certainly nothing to make me want to return it. In general I'm mostly satisfied with it after a few tweaks and modifications and I don't have it in a place where it's likely to take any abuse so it will work for me. If you're expecting something of very high quality, I'd say to keep looking, maybe something from Tiffany's with fancy packaging is more for you, but if you're looking for an inexpensive unit to do what this does and don't mind fiddling around with it a little, so far this has been the way to go for me. Oh, and I probably wouldn't let children try to sit on it. I do have plans on getting a couple of the "higher end" (higher priced) units to see if there's much of a difference between the different makes of these so stay on the lookout for those and if I have any other information about these ones, I'll be sure to post updates.

Works for me, but is overpriced
So I'm a student, finishing my degree and studying for the MCAT. My job involves being on a computer which I can luckily adjust so I can stand or sit. I bought this so that I can study around my house instead of just being on my desktop using my monitor. I keep it at the 30 degree x 3 adjustment sitting on my kitchen island and I love it! It came in yesterday and I'm liking it so far. I didn't even look to see if there were instructions, I just popped in the arms. Adjusting the angle of the arms is very difficult, you have to slowly move each piece by clicking the center of the joint. I was super nervous the arms would snap each time I tried to find a height I liked.I do agree that it does seem cheaply made. I have a 2015 13 in mac pro and I refuse to try leaning on it. I think that if you want this to sit on your couch, I wouldn't recommend this. This doesn't seem like something ideal for your lap. I would only recommend this if you want this on a stable surface. If I hit the countertop, the stand does shake a bit.I have a K480 logitech keyboard I luckily kept and use when I put my laptop on the stand. I didn't really care for the mouse pad and just planned on putting my phone on there. I have a logitech MX ergo mouse that I use on my desktop and with this set up. In regards to the mouse pad, there were no instructions on how to assemble it and it seems like it would be permanently on if I did, so I'm leaving it off.For the fan, luckily the 2015 mac pro has enough USB ports so I can plug it into my laptop. If you need the USB port hub, you should still have enough room depending on the size of your laptop. Again, mine is 13 in and I have about an inch and a half on both sides.Overall, for my needs, this stand does what I want. I tried to add pictures but for some reason I cant. I'm studying all day and felt that with my screen at eye level, I'm able to study longer. It wasn't as hard to keep studying last night as it usually is.

For the price it works great.
I have a little 11" chromebook that needed some air flow so I picked up this tray. It's nice that on each rotational leg it has the degrees you are at, but it seems like it was missing a dowel rod. You screw the mousepad into the side and it stops the tray from going wobbling, but without the rod for the other side it wobbles and if you lean it forward it will click and lock whether you want it to or not. If it had the screw or rod it would fix that problem. You push in the sides to move the angles on the legs which can be a little awkward with only 2 hands available. However, given that it's mostly plastic that is expected. The tray itself is metal, and it has 2 fans on the bottom which surprisingly has a power on / off button. Those fans won't run unless you plug in the USB cord to the laptop or some other power supply though, so it doesn't make much sense to me why it has that button. The price comes in about right. It's perfect for laying in bed watching a movie. The mousepad area is far too small. Don't expect to take it traveling with you as the tray legs will get broken. They are not sturdy at all. Before you put anything on the tray you have to double check to make sure those legs are "clicked" into place or they'll fall out. The last thing I want to talk about is the notches with the angle marks. Sure it goes 0-360 but realistically you are only going to be able to set it a set amount of ways. The instructions it came with showed 6 variations. I only use one no matter if it's sitting on my desk or if I use it in bed. The height it can raise too is pretty incredible for being made the way it is. There are spot welds on the tray. I don't understand why they wouldn't have used aluminum for the rest of it. It's backwards. If I had designed it I would have made the legs out of metal and the tray out of plastic. You get all of this weight from the tray and nothing from the legs so it makes it less stable. Lots and lots of wiggle room and I have only been using it for a short time. I hope it can hold up for a while. We'll see. For the price it does what it says it will do and nothing more. I wouldn't buy another one.
