Son loves it, better than the skeeter
It fits my 5.5 year old very well, and wont be too small for him for quite some time. He likes that in addition to carrying his favorite lemonade on a walk, he has a pocket for keeping snacks and any interesting rocks he finds along the way. His older sister has a skeeter and she likes it a lot, but she has mentioned she wishes it had some storage space instead of just a bladder. This is the perfect fix; just big enough to be useful, not too big for a little kid. The shoulder straps are sized appropriately and he says they are comfortable after a multi-mile walk through the woods. The zippers are rugged, which is good on a kids product since they seem to be rough on zippers and he really likes the flames graphic on the back. I like that its semi-reflective to keep him safe when walking near roads.

Too small and leaks unless you get top on just right
I was excited to get this for my 8 year old for camp. Unfortunately, it was difficult for her to open and refill herself. It was tricky to get the valve back on perfectly straight (even for me) so it leaked all down her back every time she bent over to tie her shoe or pick something up. Another con was the pockets were super small and she didn't have room to carry even the few small items she needed on a daily basis (sunglasses, bandana, mini bottle of bug spray).

Everything you'd expect -- a summertime essential
As usual, a very useful product from the fine people at Camelbak. I bought this for a 7y/o who is of slightly higher than average height and it fits her just fine. Carries plenty of water and has ample storage for anything she might find along our trek (e.g. rocks, bottle caps, seashells, $100 bills....).The only beef I have with this bag, along with my MULE Envy, is that ít's challenging to get a full bag of water back into the backpack. I wish the aperture opened up a little wider to provide easier insertion rather than having to shimmy it in and shake the backpack up and down to get the bladder to settle in.By way of safety, the reflective parts of the bag work nicely. I've got the same stuff on my MULE Envy and I have no complaints with the reflective material; it's just as effective after several washes in the laundry.Summer is coming -- keep the kiddos hydrated and safe when they're out there!

Leaked right out of the box!
Ordered this as a gift for my son for a camping trip this summer. When we finally took it out of the box and tried to fill it, the bladder leaked! Needless to say my 9 year old was very unhappy. Tried to return it when we came home from the trip, but was told too much time had passed.

Looks cool, surprisingly roomy for size, but flimsy straps
Bought this for my son for day hikes. There's a surprising amount of room in the two pockets of the pack, far more than you'd expect. Easily enough to store a rain poncho, snacks and a few day-hike necessities. Very lightweight material and the flame logo is cool looking enough that boys will like wearing it. The bladder is as advertised, nothing negative to report there. My only issue is with the straps. They are made of a mesh-like material banded together with simply white nylon piping seams. With even minor use, those seams starting coming loose and simple snags on tree branches and such is enough to rip one of the straps already. I've repaired it by sewing it back together and just keep one strap a little longer than the other to help offset the seam I made, but this is not a durable design. The straps should be the strongest part of the pack, even one not made to hold much weight like this one. Likewise, one of the straps is slowly working its way loose from the shoulder attachment where it meets the pack. I doubt we'll get a full years' use out of this and for the price, I'd have expected a bit more.If used only for cycling and/or skating/running, I'd say my concerns are not big issues. But its not that durable for hiking use.

Nice Camelbak For The Kids
I bought this Camelbak for my son who is 12. I was not keen on the flames, but my son really wanted it with this design. I opted for a smaller pack(50oz) mostly due to his size(he is 4'10").This is perfect really for any kids that would range from about 5-14 years old or for a small framed person. This pack sits squarely centered on his back for his size and provides a little adjustment to expand when he gets taller. This pack has the center cross strap that keeps the side straps in check from slipping off his shoulders. I have owned several Camelbak's with and without the center straps, and I will tell you from my experience, they are essential to keep it from sliding off when very active(cycling, running, etc.). There is nothing more annoying than having to stop and readjust the pack mid exercise. You will find several Camelbaks priced without the center strap that are basically the same price so its more of a personal decision on what your application is. Again, I would not purchase one without a center strap unless you plan on standing in one place to keep hydrated or hiking at a walking pace. This pack has ample space to put a few personal items such as cell phone, keys and an energy bar or two, but still keep a trim look unlike some of the other bulkier packs that are designed with more space to carry more stuff.I would highly recommend this pack to anyone, particularly towards parents with kids who don't want to bog the little ones down with a heavier 70 or 100oz bulkier pack. This is also one of the few 50oz packs that have storage space and are not designed for women specifically. The only other kid friendly pack is the Camelbak Skeeter and it comes with only the carrier and resevoir with no storage space. You won't be disappointed with the MULE.

good now that I bought replacement water reservior
the reservior that came with it was defective, The section that holds the mouthpiece broke off after a few days of my 9 year's use at day camp. after I bought replacement at Dick's no problem.

Perfect for kids on the move!
My 9 year old girl loves this! We're getting into hiking and this is the perfect size for smaller kids. Has a 50oz liquid bladder. Zipper pocket and a larger accommodating pocket for gear. Has stabilizing straps so it doesn't move all over the place when you ate carrying a full load. Super Fast shipping and great quality.
