First, let me say I paid full price for this umbrella. I DID NOT receive any kind of discount. Now, let me cut to the chase, I'm VERY impressed with the LifeTek Travel Umbrella (45" model), and would recommend it heartily. I've only had it several weeks, but we've been having some excellent storms here on the west coast, so I've had the opportunity to put the LifeTek to the test quite a few times, and it's passed with flying colors. Yesterday, the gusts of wind were so strong I started to feel like Mary Poppins, like I was going to fly away, and I was sure that one of those super strong gusts of wind was going to invert it, but it didn't even flinch. When I was looking for a new compact umbrella that I could stick in my back pocket while out on my daily walks, I kept reading about these other "wind proof" umbrellas, that wouldn't break when a gust of wind inverted them, and that they were easy to get back in to shape after inverting....... but many of the reviews also noted that while yes, they didn't break when they inverted, and yes, they were easy to get back into shape, it also appeared that they were a little to easy to invert, meaning it didn't take much of a gust of wind to make them invert, and to my way of thinking, that tends to nullify the whole point of having an umbrella, because once it inverts, you're standing there in the pouring rain trying to get it back into shape. So, when I read about the LifeTek Travel Umbrella, I noticed their idea was to add an extra rib (9 instead of the usual 8 or 6 ribs), and use super quality materials to keep the umbrella from inverting in the first place, and after my walk yesterday, I'm a believer. If it can handle the kind of gusts I encountered in the last few weeks, then it's proved it's worth to me. By the way, the teflon coating they've applied to the material really does shed the rain nicely. It simply rolls off, just like a freshly waxed car, which also helps the umbrella to dry more quickly after use. When I first got the umbrella, I noticed immediately the quality feel of it. It opens beautifully, and closes just as beautifully. Yes, it does take a firm push to get it closed, but nothing out of the ordinary, and certainly not an issue for me. You can see the quality as well, in the stitching, in the materials they've chosen to use, and in the general workmanship. It's really a finely constructed piece of kit, and I feel it was worth every penny that I paid for it. Well done LifeTek.

This is the second LifeTek compact umbrella I've purchased and I highly recommend this product. I've owned the first one for years and it is still serving me well. I bought the second one for my wife who has gone through a number of cheaper ones. The umbrella is compact and stows easily in the side pocket of my backpack for travel. It is also very well constructed and sturdy in strong winds. The extra ribs in the umbrella make a real difference. Don't waste your money on cheap umbrellas that will unwittingly invert in a strong wind and spend a few extra dollars to buy a quality one such as this.
