Yearly update of my whole house carbon filter and bought Oceanic Water Systems media this time. With free shipping this is a good price for 1/2 cubic ft. It was shipped right away and here in a couple of days. Seems to be a good quality media and is working well in the filter systems. Will buy this again next year, if the price is similar.

Charcoal was used for a water filter. I soaked and rinsed the charcoal in 5 gal buckets before use. Also did a manual back wash after cylinder was refilled with new charcoal and water was pure and clean immediately

We were looking at replacing our whole-house water filter at the cost of several thousand dollars. It had worked well for over 15 years, but we could tell that our water was starting to have a slight odor and didn't taste right. Instead of replacing the entire unit, I thought I would try replacing the carbon media within the filter. The cost was only about $250 and an afternoon of labor, but our water now tastes and smells fresh and pure. Well worth the money and work.

We have well water and it is not good. We had to install a water filter which helped but after several years, the water started to taste metallic and bitter. White clothes were coming out of the washer looking very dingy and nasty looking. Glad that I found this product here on Amazon and decided to try it. It took about 24 hours for the water to clear and now we have some great tasting water. We will definitely keep using this product.

Used 1 Cubic Ft to replace the 6 year old carbon media in my Pelican PC1000 whole home filter. It took me a full week of soaking\flushing to get clean it enough to put it into service. ***UPDATE*** I have been using it for several months and I'm still getting carbon dust from this media. I can't soak\flush this anymore than I already have. Lowering my rating to 3 stars.

I used this carbon to replace the media in a Kinetico K30 water system. It was easy to handle and arrived in great shape. I'll buy from here the next time around.

Quality product with very low dust. I'm very happy with this purchase. However, selling it in half cubes seems kind of a "thumb on the scale" way to sell it, since the bags it was shipped in were marked 2 CU FT. I needed 4 cubic feet. Shipment was broken down into strange weights between three boxes, inside were the original bags, taped up with less than marked on each bag. (13.6lb, 20.2, & 21lbs) Needs to be available in 2 CU FT bags unbroken. I weighed all three at 54.8lbs, including bags and tape. Should have been 55lbs with no bags and tape. My scale is not certified, but it is accurate with known weights. However, this wasn't enough of a difference to create any problems with the service of the filter. Close enough for me. There should be an option to order in original 2 cubic foot bags without being opened. This lead to reducing my review to 4 stars.

I was a little confused at first because I ordered 2 and received only one bag. I called the vendor and they explained the 1 bag was 1 cu.ft. which is what I needed. No other issues. Product worked as expected.
