Can't beat it for the money !!
This is not the top of the line, high end, high performance piece. It is a lightweight, compact unit that efficiently scans up to an 8.5x11 sheet. If you need something more, than perhaps review your needs, before you buy. I had one of these for a few years, it had been knocked around as we moved cross country and back and it finally quit. I bought another one! Like I said, for the money ya can't beat it. The Neat software is user friendly. It is not very fast, so if you have many documents to scan on a consistent basis, you may want to look into another product. It will take maybe 5 min to scan in 10 pages. For my application that is ok, you may need something faster. It would take quite a bit of time to scan in many pages with this unit. I use this little scanner to get documents into my computer and then email the docs or file them. No need to keep a fax or internet fax, i scan and use email. This one does the job just fine. I have had flatbed scanners, all in one print-scan-fax, and this one does just a good as the expensive models, although slower. One drawback is that that is does not handle legal size documents. Only up to 11 inch long. So that may be an issue if you have the need to scan legal size. Otherwise, if your need is to scan into your computer a document 8.5"x11in or less, are not in a tremendous hurry, and file the doc or email, message, print, or whatever, you should be very happy with it.

NO SUPPORT AND DOES NOT SCAN
So I get this little scanner and I am so excited about it. I follow the directions, install the software and go to scan... Nothing. I try a black and white receipt from Wendy's - it picks up a few spots. I try a receipt from getting gas yesterday. Streaks. I try to scan a business card from a woman I sat next to on my last flight - streaks. I try it in color. Still streaks. Then I try to call support. I get a phone hell saying there is no live customer support. I sent a message, like that is going to do any good. I called sales and got a lady named Giulia who claims to be the "director of sales" but has no idea how to help a customer. I tell her it doesn't work. She tells me to send an email. I tell her that I will return it rather than send an email because I need to talk to a person. She says (again) we don't have live support. I ask her who will answer the email. She says technical support. I ask to talk to them. She says they do not have incoming phones (which is BS - what if one of the support techs' kids get sick or hurt at school?). I tell her that I will give her my number and they can call me back. She says (again) that they have no live support. I then tell her that I need to return this brick as it does not work. She asks me who I bought it from. I told her that I bought it from them..... this goes on and on.Needless to say, it is now my mission in life to assure that nobody I know, personally or professionally, ever buys anything from this company unless they want a piece of junk that does not work and for which there is no support. If people want to throw their money away, buying this product is one sure way to do do so, based on my experience. This might be the best little scanner in the world but since I cannot get support, and I have followed their directions and it does not work, I guess I will never know.

Virtually impossible to scan letter size docs
I bought this to get myself organized. The software is great (once you figure out how to use it, which isn't easy). The scanner works well with heavy paper such as business cards and some checks, but is virtually impossible to use with thinner paper, especially letter size sheets. I have yet to get a single piece of paper to feed straight. No matter how meticulously I align the paper, the scanner will twist it and turn it so by the time it is half way through it is at a 30 degree angle. It comes out twisted and the resulting scan is distorted. It installs easily, but is impossible to use. About every third or fourth scan, it will no longer feed or if it does, the software will say that the scan cannot be completed even though the entire document has been fed through the scanner. The only solution I have found is to quit NeatWorks, unplug the scanner, plug it back in, and then restart NeatWorks. Then after three or four scans, repeat this process.Obviously the hardware has lots of bugs that the company needs to fix. The concept is great, and I had high hopes for it, but clearly it is going to require way too much work to scan most documents. Instead of being a time saver, it has become a time waster.

works well on Mac but needs updates. I also want it to do more!
After I install the app I like the look. It's like Mail, and others. But first let me tell you about myself, and why I give this 3 stars. I have been a Mac user for over 9 years (before OS 10.0) and in the last 2 or so years Mac's are the in thing; ipods and iPhones are great. But this app is like a teen learning it's body. I really like the scanner and App but! The scanner is a little slow; that's not a big deal to me. The Software needs a lot more added to it. First I think the app should learn what you are looking for, I have pay stubs from Quiktrip. It should learn what I I'm looking at and enter what I need entered. Moreover I think that the 2.0 is really 1.0 for Mac, in the PC world I can see that it would be 2.0. But in the Mac world I think "we" Mac user's are looking for a app that is really a 3.0 when it's a 2.0 in the PC world. If you want this and need it for receipts I think you will love this app. I scanned my W-2's in and it doesn't know what that is and I have to enter all the info. The App needs a way to move the info box's, put them in the order you need them in. I could go on and on about the app but in time I will grow to really like/love this app . If you are looking at getting this, I would think if it's really worth the money. If I had to do it over again I would test drive the app and see if it is really what I need. I will keep using it because I can make it work for what I want it to do. I'm trying to free my home office of paper, and in time I can do it with this app. Could I have done it for free.... well ya the apps is like Mail, bento and so on. I don't know if this review helped but just think about it before you buy it.
