Make Sure You Have the Right Driver
This cable programs the Baofeng perfectly. But there's a catch.If you simply insert this in your PC and expect Windows 10 to pick up and use the right driver you'll be sorely disappointed. Had to go find the correct driver for the FTDI chipset in the cable. I had to get the version that installed the driver (that prevents you from having to find where to stick it). Once I installed the driver it worked fine. I would also not (and this is not relevant to the cable), but the software that updates the firmware appears to give you a com port, but does not actually let you set a com port. It just assigns it automatically. Baofeng/Radioddity and their instructions need some work. But the cable is great!

Missing software
The cable worked great, however there was no software included with it as per the listing on Amazon. I bought this hoping it would be a turn key solution to programming my radio. The listing stated that the cable would come with the latest software cd for programming the Baofeng DM-5R. Mirkit sent me 2 links to some software to program the radio, but neither one worked with my DM-5R and the cable. I finally found a program on my own that works. If all you are going to supply is the cable, say so.

My Old DM-5R radio
I think that I have a very early version of the dm-5r. It's not a cable problem as much as the fact that the old dm-5r will not work with the cable. I will retain the cable in case i can get some firmware that will bring it up to speed. I basically use the radio for analog, but would like to operate DMR as well.

Contacted Mirkit had reply within 24hrs. With there advice found what i need will keep cable for later. after i get license i will buy from for a dm radio and right gear.

Works perfect! Well-constructed. Correct cable for RD-5R & V3 DM-5R
This is the correct cable for the RD-5R. This is important, because some of the cables do not work with the v3, Tier II radios. It is well-constructed. Installed without issue.

This does not come with CD read ppls review found out after got it and read reviews what a joke
You have sent me the software but this does not work it says com port not correct is there a firmware that should come with this cause I have tried it on many computers I need firm ware it says it comes with special firmware this is a joke. First you don’t send the software CD and now your software won’t work. Do you have a software and firmware for windows 7 ? Hale do I email you direct instead of posting review aswell
