Food must be cooked prior to eating
I bought this vegetarian food bucket as a 20-day food source for 2 adults in the case of emergencies. I also thought I could use them for camping and backpacking, as needed. I have not tried the food yet. My package arrived promptly. The contents are complete and in good condition. Most of the food was manufactured and packaged in 2022. The contents are 30 packages of 4-serving meals, e.g. the white bean chili mix makes 8 cups of chili yielding four 2 cup servings. The packages are not resealable. The meals require cooking. Water must be brought to a boil and the contents stirred in and cooked for 10+ minutes. So, if you are buying this for emergencies, you will also need to stock both a stove and fuel for that stove in order to use the food. I suppose most people already do that, but I was hoping that I really had to "just add water" as the listing indicates. The size of the packages and the requirement for cooking also make these impractical for backpacking, at least for me. In summary, solid product as long as you know what you are getting. Be sure it meets your needs before purchasing.

An excellent menu
I've tried this company before and the food is excellent. Since I know it's tasty and because I trust the shelf life I'm stocking this particular package because I live in hurricane country and consider myself a "prepper" but I'm not opening it unless and until there's a need. It arrived quickly, the package was intact and dollars for calories it's a good deal.

Real Life Situation
I bought this a few months ago with the idea that my family would live off of it for a few days to see how it worked for us after we'd already been through one tragic hurricane. The original idea was that if we liked it, and it worked for our needs, we'd order more, but had not gotten around to opening it until this week after a tropical storm destroyed most of our town. So trying it in a real life situation ... upon opening the bucket, I noticed a lovely maple aroma and that a fine powder has covered every bag. I have not inspected every bag yet, but I am positive at least one oatmeal was compromised - I just haven't had energy to investigate further. Being in a real life scenario this isn't good but since my situation is not dire I will call the company as I am thinking I may have received a fluke bad batch or something. We have had three entrees so far, which have ranged from WOW this is pretty dang good for not being homemade to it's "okay". I did get an upset stomach with one of the three entrees we've had so far but that was expected as it was not gluten free pasta, but I knew that might have happened as the packaging clearly lists allergens. LOVE the labeling as knowing what you are eating especially when it matters most is important. Even though there is a packaging issue with at least the oatmeal which is totally not okay, I have already reordered more because most of the entrees will work, for most of my family each evening. Actually I'd have ordered more than I did from this company but apparently the rest of the world wants it as well as many things I wanted they are sold out of. Hopefully the oatmeal issue will be resolved and they will restock meats and side dishes as that is what I was mostly interested in. I'd offer a 5 star but the oatmeal ... and I wish there were more dairy free options for another member of the household. Still - if you have no allergens, this is a good investment!

That's a lot of food!!!
Finally received my Legacy Premium. First off, I'd like to state, I am a first time buyer of emergency foods and I am so very pleased with the variety of foods provided. The bucket is quite heavy, each package varies in weight but (by an ounce or two) which you will find labeled on each package. I inspected each Mylar pouch and found no damage on any package. However there were spice dusting (if that makes sense) on the packages from the packing process that made its way onto my hands (very pleasant, made me hungry). Meal package production dates varied from Dec 2016 to July 2017 (date of this review is Aug 30, 2017). This purchase will be a start for any emergency situation that may arise in SW Florida where me my wife and 2 kids live. I plan to buy more and possibly give one of these packages a taste review. So far so good! Oh!.. side note... the PS3 controller is simply for a size reference.

Great for the value
It's for emergency purposes only. They're easy to store.

WELL WORTH IT.
I purchased there about a year ago. My sons and I had a 6 mile hike and a two day camping trip planned for the Adirondacks. The food quality was excellent, packaging is durable. I have ate them over the last year and the quality has held.

100% failure in packages due to sloppy sealing. Purchased 2019
I just did a six year inspection of this product and upon opening the tub I found that all the pouches had compromised seals. None of the pouches where air tight, half the seals failed to even make it across the bag. Powdered product dusting most of the bags inside. I've never seen such sloppy workmanship when it comes to sealing a package. The sloppy seals are hidden behind the sealed bucket, so I recommend EVERYONE open your bucket and inspect the pouches if you bought this previously. I had one bag of mac/cheese that looked like it might have been sealed, upon opening the powdered cheese smelled rancid and upon cooking black flecks of unknown origin began to show up. Nobody dared to try it. Even the dog said "nope". It's clear the company was in a hurry to sell repackaged product and not to make a quality item. Hiding their defective pouches behind the sealed bucket. A simple visual inspection would have spotted these defects so I have to assume they knew they where selling compromised pouches. If you buy this inspect it. I'm really glad I didn't need this in an emergency. Thankfully this was the only item from this company I've purchased.

Lacking in Options, Yet Delicious.
The oatmeal was more sugar than oats. The rest of the breakfast options are just grains. It would be nice if there was a larger selection. The measurements are inaccurate, and the package sizes are a bit restrictive. The packages are also not resealable. This makes it difficult to use these for backpacking, and compromises the longevity of the product. There is no grain free dog food, and quite a few people want this option. There are no seasoning/spice options, and the drink selection is rather limited. Otherwise, you have a fairly decent product.
