InSinkErator Badger 5XP Garbage Disposal, Standard Series 3/4 HP Continuous Feed Food Waste Disposer, Black / Stainless

My 20 year old disposal finally went out so I researched new ones and decided on this one. It’s worked great for almost a year now. Grinds up anything I put in it and I’ve had no issues. Holds a lot of junk before using and still takes it all down. Instructions were clear and it was easy to put together in about 30 minutes. I use it everyday.

Why would you use any other brand than the best? Quiet and powerful and perfectly priced. Installation is a breeze. The size is perfect for a residential application. Works exactly as expected.

Powerful, and so quiet compared to the unit it replaced that I wondered at first if it was running at all. Easy to install, if you know what you are doing. Otherwise, ask for help from someone who does. One important suggestion, though - skip the plumber's putty and spend $6 for a dedicated silicone ring gasket for the sink mount. Putty can dry up and crumble on an install at a sink that is used infrequently, causing a leak that can rust the unit to the point of failure (ask me how I know).

Replaced my quarter horsepower garbage disposal this thing really takes the garbage down and works great no plugging and it's nice and quiet too

I was replacing a non-insinkerator 1/3 hp unit with this one, so I had to do every step as the sink flange was completely different. I ran into the following issues and offer the following advice to others: 1) The insinkerator snap ring can be really hard to get on when working alone with only a weight on the sink side to hold it down. I finally got it on by using thick painters tape to hold the fiber gasket and bottom mount while I fiddled with the snap ring. I still had to get out the snap ring pliers to do it alone, but if someone was there to hold it from top, I could have been more aggressive and might have been able to do it by hand. If you get aggressive with only a weight on top, you start messing up your plumbers putty job... 2) One of the steps on wiring says to put a cable clamp on (not included).. REALLY? this information should have been in the REQUIRED TOOLS listing. No one has a bag of metal cable clamps (strain relief) just laying around... I opted to use a rubber grommet instead that I happened to just have so at least the wires arent rubbing against sheet metal. Pretty sure that clamp only would have cost 10 cents to include for free... this should have been included, as should have a couple of wire nuts (which i already had) 3) I fiddled for more than hour trying to get this heavy thing twisted on... in the end, I had it on there right a few times but just wasn't confident it was on there correct. This is because it feels really loose when twisted on and you then need to reach above and twist the metal flange attachment more. I recommend watching the insinkerator video as the instructions aren't super clear on this... Anyhow.. I'm happy with the end result, just not super happy with the installation process. It could be improved.

We bought this garbage disposal when our old one broke. The size was perfect fit for our old one. The design is wonderful! It is easy to use. Easy to install and use. I really like the metal construction. I would definitely recommend. Be sure to buy a plug if yours takes one.

Handiman put this new disposal in quickly. Works great in my small house. Was only using 1/3 hp before. This one should last my lifetime! Not loud, quiet and efficient!

This replaced my smaller Hp, 14 year old leaking disposal. Same brand more power and it is a tad bit smaller which I like. Comes with everything you need to replace your old unit. Highly recommend you view the installation video on the site if doing it yourself. I didn’t replace the sink attachment because there wasn’t anything wrong with mine and why risk my screwing something up, I mean the disposal connection mated up perfectly. Obviously, you have to reconnect your power source (safety first), after that install everything back in reverse order. Note: I was going to order the model that uses the power cord that doesn’t need hard wiring. I’m glad I checked under my sink because I didn’t have an ac outlet, just a power switch and the power line. Dodge a bullet with that one. UPDATE: If you are connecting a dishwasher drain hose, be sure to knock out(tap it with a screwdriver and hammer) the plastic plug inside the disposal where the hose connects. It will fall inside the and you’ll be able to see it from the sink. Remember all power off if reaching inside.

The product arrived faulty, the heat fuse keeps tripping after 5 seconds of working, the product is old, I reccomend buying a newer model Also, note that it does not arrive with air switch and not even a power cord.
