Repaired JBL J520M speakers with these
I had very little problems installing these replacement surrounds. Where I did have slight problems was in gluing the surrounds to the woofer cones, and it was due to just a bit too much glue in a couple spots. In reality, if you're not picky about appearance, the tiny little bit of glue that was beyond the overlap of the surround until I cleaned it off was not going to cause any problems. What you want to keep in mind as you look at the lower ratings from some reviewers versus the 5 star ratings, is your own personal level of touch and skill. If you're not a DIY type, if you've never repaired or assembled anything using glue, or you just tend to be clumsy and/or are not very bright, replacing speakers surrounds is NOT something you should be doing. If none of the above applies to you in an honest appraisal, you should not have problems doing this repair.Once you start gluing the surround to the cone, do NOT attempt to pull it all the way back off. Make sure you get a thin bead applied fairly evenly around the entire surface, both for surround to cone and surround to frame. Trying to lift up part of a surround of this size in order to apply more glue is only going to get you into trouble, so get the glue applied evenly from the get go.Lastly, keep in mind that the glue will take some time to get tacky enough to hold the bond. This is why in the videos it shows the guy doing the repair going around multiple times gently pressing the surround into place. This is where touch comes in, and even if you were able to get an even bead of glue, if you have the touch of a blacksmith or something similar, your repair will not end well.

Not as easy as it seems
After reading the reviews and watching the tutorial videos, I thought this would be a fairly simple repair job. It *is*, if you're extremely patient and lucky. Unfortunately, for one of the two woofers I was working on, the replacement foam didn't really seat properly, so I had to try gluing it down again after the first pass... and it never really sounded great. So I had to buy an entire replacement woofer. The other one sounds fine, but it's a lot harder to control the glue and get the foam to not curl up while gluing the ring to the metal. The cone is easier, but in both cases, you end up with a bit of a sticky mess (even if you're careful!).Three stars for the ease of installation, four stars for the foam itself and the effort/price. But be extremely patient and thorough, otherwise you'll be throwing away the first woofer you try this on—once you get this glue on it, there's no going back!

Excellent kit
I used this repair kit to repair the foam edge on my JBL Control 1 speakers. They provide very clear directions and once I cleaned away the old foam and adhesive it was very easy to install. When you apply the adhesive to the ring that attaches to the cone, I would take their advice and turn the foam ring over, apply the adhesive, and then turn it right side up and attach gently with your finger.

Patience Gives Results
I bought this kit it refoam a pair of JBL J520M speakers. I read the instructions and went slow. I had this project done in an hour. My only advice is to be careful not to overdo it with the glue.

Not as easy as they make it look
the success (or not) lies in your own hands. I used this on a pair of speakers. One came out great. The other one buzzes at moderate to high volume. Videos are helpful but procedure is not bullet proof. Search the internet for speaker shimming for more info before you go this route. Also consider cost of replacing the speakers, or even paying someone to do the repair

Tried but failed to fix problem.
Had to cut the foam. Speakers distort.Perhaps the voice coils are shot. I'll be in Florida next month and will try to contact the company to test my speakers.
