This book is the best and most up to date must have and must use manual for dentists that place implants. Having taken numerous courses with Dr. Misch,and having been placing implants since 1999, this text represents the evolution in the field of dental Implantology. The articles used and the clinicians who helped generate information used in this book are the serious, dedicated, truly devoted "big guns" in the study of dental implants. If this book is read in a careful open-minded method, the entire spectrum of Implantology will be understood. Basic knowledge is presented in an extremely understandable and digestible way that allows those who are just starting with dental implants or clinicians that have placed hundreds or thousands of implants enjoy. Whatever implant system used, radiographs or CB CAT imaging device used this book is essential. I have no doubt whatsoever that anyone working in this field, will find that information that has been recently generated by researchers is also exposed. If taken seriously and if the reader really "gets into" the book, the whole book, you will have tasted absolutely everything in this evolving field in dentistry. Procedures associated with placing and restoring implants is outstandingly presented as well. If you buy just one text dealing with dental implants, THIS IS THE ONE TO HAVE!

Very dense book. Breaks down all arguments, backed by research, for various treatment plans regarding implant therapy. Dr. Misch repeats the paradigms many times through the read out reinforcing the ideas. Illustrations throughout the chapters with captions assist as well with my learning. I had heard about Dr. Misch in the past but this is my first introduction and I have to say I see why my peers refer to him alot. I am very impressed with this book. A must read for the dentist exploring implants.

I have been placing (and restoring) implants for over 10 years. I want to up my game without investing tens of thousands of dollars into impant dentistry programs. This book is exactly what I was looking for. It is very well written. Excellent illustrations and charts are very helpful. I purchased this after reading other reviews suggesting that this textbook contains all the information that is offered at the Misch Institute. My understanding of and confidence in talking with patients about implants is already noticeably higher, and I'm only on chapter 3 (I use it as a reference as well, but I am in the process of reading it cover-to-cover). Anecdotally, I am seeing an increased case acceptance rate for implants and implant-supported prostheses as my understanding of why implants are the best solution for tooth replacement has deepened (Chapter 1 is fantastic to sharpen your conversation skills with potential implant patients). A good reading of Chapter 1 alone will pay for the book many times over if you are already restoring implants and are looking to help patients understand what you already know – implant restorations are far superior to traditional dentures and partials and even fixed bridges. I can't recommend it highly enough.

This book learns you to design, not only make a hole inside the patient's bone and place a piece of metal inside that!

Great book, but the author gets too wordy at times. I would also have liked to see a step-by-step guide for some implant supported restorations.
