Easy to put together
The shelving supports just sit in slots on the corner posts. The shelves themselves do not secure to the shelving supports. It does what I want it to but it isn't quite what I wanted. Was hoping for something sturdier. On the plus side, you do not need a screwdriver or specialized tools to get this put together. Just a hammer to knock the shelf supports to the corner posts. Or a block of wood.

it'll work fine for general household items
This is not what I would call a "heavy duty" shelf, you get what you pay for. With that stated, it'll work fine for general household items. The wood is actually particle board or sawdust and glue. I put one outside in a shed, the other is in my basement. I suspect I will get years of use from both.p.s. it's very easy to assemble, 15 to 20 minutes. Step 1, pull the instructions back out of the trash can.

Prefect for storing balls of yarn or empty storage bins. Little else.
It is a shelf and it holds things. So, I gave it two stars. It was fairly simple to assemble. But it is extremely unstable. I don't let my children retrieve or deposit items on the shelf for fear they will bump it the wrong way and it will fall on them. I'm hesitant to put anything heavy on it. I have it in my utility room holding craft items and household odds and ends. I would not use this in a garage for storing anything of significant weight.

Hard to find size shelving
It worked great for the space we needed it for. Hard to find anything that is 16. Everything is 18 or 20.

Best I found for the money
I got this unit from Menards and I have two of them. I own about 20 different units from metal to plastic. I have found the metal units hold up much better than the plastic ones. All units say they will hold tons of weight but that is only if the weight is perfectly balanced between all shelves and every shelf has a balanced amount across the shelf. If you get a plastic shelf run straps to the wall studs from every shelf or the unit will slowly bend forward under heavy load and eventually collapse. This unit for the money cant be beat. I put it together in about 15 minutes. Take the two lower posts and lean them against the wall and grab the rear rail look at the fingers and if not straight bend with thumb and insert into slots and hit with steel hammer till it seats then do the sides and finally the front add partial board shelf then move to the next shelf after you have two shelves move it into place. Now pound the metal pieces into the bottom upright and put the top upright on to bottom and hit with hammer till seated. I put the bottom upright with holes at top and top upright with holes at bottom now just finish shelves. In the two holes where the posts meet a person can run a self taping screw into the brackets with a drill or impact ( I welded mine) now the top can't come apart from the bottom. If you look at the crap out there this is the best for the money. People shouldn't complain, if you want a 100 dollar shelf by a 100 dollar shelf don't by a 39 dollar shelf and want it to be like a 100 dollar shelf
