Bought this for some home brew wine. So far only used it to read my initial sugar content before fermenting This has done everything I need it to. Very easy to use. Seems very well made from quality glass. Easy to read. Love that it comes with a readings chart and the included cleaning brush is a nice addition.

Well, this is my 3rd one so I can honestly say I really like it! I have broken 2 tubes so far and hopefully there wont be a 3rd. These did not break from normal usage. I dropped one onto concrete and the other broke when I tossed my degasser/ mixer attachment for a drill onto my drying table without thinking. The build quality is very nice and obviously I would buy again!

The products work, I just need to practice a bit more in the craft to give more of a solidified review. Use is easy and the materials are pretty durable. I’d like the hydrometer glass to be a bit thicker, but still is fine. I would purchase again and highly recommend.

Bought this for the batch of wine that I made, and frankly, I can't figure out HOW to use this. The parts are well made. The marks are easily visible. But what the HECK do they MEAN? There's an enclosed 'guide' that tells me absolutely nothing. Online hygrometer guides seem to have different settings? Ie., my wine at 6 days after start was 1100. At 18 days it was at 1045. Per the included chart, it went from roughly 14% alcohol to 6% alcohol after fermenting for 3 weeks. What? Is that even possible that the more wine ferments, the LESS alcoholic it gets? It TASTES more alcoholic, so I have NO idea what's going on with this unhelpful meter. But it's pretty and it floats in liquid. I can't see punishing the product for my complete lack of understanding on how it works, but given the lack of directions, how do I know if it's working? The stars off is that there's NO documentation that explains included, other than a chart that doesn't explain anything, and nothing I see online provides any clarity at all. You sell the tool, could you include more info??? If you buy an electrical multimeter, it comes with directions? Will amend the stars if someone can explain?

My first run on several batches over a day. I'll assume it's accurate - it seemed to measure the SG of my distilled water at 1.00 by line of sight. I make fruit wine and cider for vinegar production so it's not an essential tool but it's very nice to be more exacting when trying to set up to get a potential 12% ABV for the wine/cider step. If only measuring acidity was this simple. For the money, it's a great value. The measuring tube is sturdy and stable. It's reasonably easy to clean - not as easy to dry. The hydrometer itself is easy enough to read and simple to clean. The whole set is glass though and likely rather fragile. The box it comes in is very protective though I may find/make a wooden box sized to hold the inserts this came with. Overall: well pleased.

Easy to read and use

I got my hydrometer and i loved it, as i tested in water it is 100% accurate, glass is really fragile and be careful, if you treat it carefully you get amazing long lasting tool for making great wine , beer and more, this tool is important in brewing, so i am recommending it 100%

A complete set consisting of a hydrometer, glass cylinder and cleaning brush. The glass cylinder is packed in reusable foam that holds it securely. Cleaning brush is a nice touch, and it's the right length to reach the bottom of the cylinder. I had issues with the hydrometer from the start. The readings started out consistent with what I expected, then began to drift. I finally noticed that the hydrometer bulb was cracked, allowing liquid to seep in. I honestly don't know if this was cracked when I got it or if I had allowed the bulb end to hit the bottom of the cylinder when taking a measurement. Either way, it became worthless to use and was thrown in the trash. I kept the cylinder and brush and they are still in use.

The box itself had EXCELLENT packaging for the fragile contents, the amazon packqge not so much... but I guess you dont need it if the box itself is packed this well. I made the mistake of expecting a Baumé chart on the hydrometer, but I guess thats on me, Ill just have to buy another hydrometer seperately. The tube glass is exceptionally clear, wont have an issue with my wine tests. Between the packaging and the glass, Im happy enough.

Very good and accurate hydrometer, the approximate alcohol content scale is also handy for determining a quick percentage
