A Great Addition
Bought two of these, one for my wife's Taurus 856 and one for my Taurus 605. Both of these have the same factory grip, which gives no purchase for your pinky. This grip sacrifices a little bit of concealment for increased control, but I cannot tell the difference looking in the mirror....it does not seem to imprint any more than the factory grips. You will need the correct size punch to get the retaining pin out, and don't be afraid to hit the punch hard. This pin fits very snug. Installation is a breeze and the grips look fantastic on the firearm. The first install took about 5 minutes, the second probably 2....and the first I was worried about how hard to hit the punch. Overall it is easy to install, feels great in your hand, gives you more grip without sacrificing much in the way of concealment.

It’s a Hogue…
It’s a Hogue. Fit and function are perfect. Didn’t line up at the top as clean as others I’ve owned, but that’s not an issue for me. All I want to know is if it ever comes time to hear that click, the next sound I want to hear is the boom. Overall, a better grip for handling a snub nose loaded in .357, when compared to the OEM, two finger grip. Well worth the money.

If you have a Taurus 856 revolver this is the grip to have. Fits perfect and easy to install. This grip is quality and looks great. Really a good grip and it feels great in your hand. Now I have a place to put my pinky. =)

It may not be your color but it is a good product and value.
I am not big on the color but my wife loves it (it is for her gun), so I love it. Comfortable grip and easy to hold onto while shooting. Firm and soft at the same time.

Overall decent.
Here's the good, bad, and ugly about this grip on the Taurus model 85UL 2016 production line. The good: compared to the actually not bad "charging bull" stock grips, the Monogrip provides a much better purchase, as most people's pinky will find a home on the grip, and not dangle off of it. My normal sized hock wraps nicely around the grip, and it is extremely comfortable for me. Additionally,. The stock grip got in the way of using speed loaders. I got around this issue by trimming a small part of the stock rip off on the cylinder side. This grip, however, works nicely with speed loaders. No issues.... The Bad: while the grip fits nicely (with an exception detailed in a minute), installation for my particular firearm wasn't as simple as they say. The new Model 85 grip is apparently attached differently. It utilizes a small pin that holds the stock grip on place. This pin comes out with a few firm traps with a punch and hammer. The problem is, though, that this pin will not work to hold the Monogrip in place. The Monogrip uses a screw at the bottom to secure the grip. This screw is held in place by an included clip, which secures via the grip pin. On my particular model year firearm, the pin that is used to hold the grip on place will not work for this. It is too big. I ended up using a small cotter pin instead. If I didn't happen to have a small enough cotter pin, I wouldn't have been able to install it without having to purchase an acceptable pin. The ugly: The grip feels great. It is nice and tight on the frame, now that I got it properly secured.. However, it left a tiny open gap exposed on the frame which is normally covered by the stock grip. This is a working gun, and as such, may be exposed to dirt, rain, or even the inside leather inevitably rubs off a new holster's inside until is smoothed out, unless you take the time to condition the inside of it well first. While I don't anticipate any real problem with this little gap it would be nice if it wasn't there at all. After all, why take any chances? Needless to say, I really don't care for anything at all that may potentially affect the function of my firearm. While I don't know if anything that would be small enough to fit through will actually cause any real issues, I would rather not have grit and dust bunnies getting in there. If you're willing to overcome the aforementioned issues, then this would be a great grip to put on your Model 85. Those with older versions may not have these issues. I honestly cannot say for sure. But I felt compelled to share my experience with the 2016 production model.

Great for .357s
I bought one about a year ago and had major issues installing the first one on my Taurus 605 with the factory roll pin. I ended up stretching it too much trying to fit it over that factory roll pin and just threw it in the trash. Then I read through some reviews here for advice and decided to order another grip along with a more appropriately sized replacement roll pin with the recommended shorter 1/2" length. Turns out this time Hogue included a proper-sized roll pin in the box taped to the back so it doesn't get lost. The grips fit perfectly with that pin. But for those who lost their pin or didn't get one, 420 Stainless Steel Spring Pin, Plain Finish, 1/8" Nominal Diameter, 1/2" Length (Pack of 100) is the exact same size pin as the one Hogue includes in their kit. This grip is NOT meant to install over the long roll pin that's included inside the newer factory Taurus grips, there is absolutely no way for it to fit without major forcing and possibly shaving out some grip material, it's not supposed to be that difficult, just get the properly sized pin, line it up, and then it goes on no problem. Don't overtighten the bottom screw either, it throws the grips slightly out of alignment along the frame, plus the screw has a tendency to slowly walk out over time anyway when firing/dryfiring. Instead, put some blue threadlocker on it and just tighten the screw to the point where the grip is aligned seamlessly with the frame. As for function, I never tried the factory 605 grips but when firing .38s it's about as comfortable to shoot as my dad's 6" S&W 686 with .38s although there's inevitably a little more muzzle rise with the reduced weight of the 2" barrel on the 605. .38 +P has a little more oomph but still not bad, so these grips would probably be absolutely perfect on an 85 if that's what you've got. I also tried some 125 grain .357s and although I could feel it in my wrist a bit, my hand felt fine which I think means the grips did well. The muzzle rise was a bit high but I think it would've been worse with the factory grips where your pinky isn't making full contact like this grip does. It starts to get a little bit painful after 25 rounds of 125 grain .357 but honestly the concussive blast from a .357 coming out of a 2" barrel is worse to me than whatever wrist pain I'm getting when firing them. I would still like to try some 158s just to see how bad they are, I've heard they pack quite the wallop when fired from such a small gun. Speedloaders actually fit and work fairly well now with the Hogue grip, the thumb shelf on the factory grip made them impossible to use before.
