The first two issues in this collected edition are proper preludes to the Dark Nights: Metal event, and are exciting episodes that dive head-first into the action, chalked full of teases of what is to come. While heavily steeped in DC canonical references (which are often confusing based on how they may become further contextualized or otherwise entirely retconned in the Rebirth era), these issues tease beloved characters, teams, and concepts that point to a explosive re-emergence within the DCU. How integral this delving into DC comics history will actually be to the main event remains to be seen in Dark Nights: Metal.The extended material in this collection offer context to the main themes of the impending “dark crisis” teases within the preludes, as well as pointers to clues sprinkled throughout Snyder’s New 52 run on Batman, around whom the event is primarily going to unfold. For those already invested invested in collecting DC comics’ greatest outings, the issues ripped from Final Crisis and The Return of Bruce Wayne (both by Grant Morrison of Bat-defining repute) will likely be repeats in your collection. In spite of this, I found the inclusion of these issues to be interesting for the purpose of teasing what themes will be explored, and what history will be expanded upon, in the upcoming event. For those up to date on New-52-and-beyond material for Batman and the Bat-family, the other issues included will likely be repeats, but again offer clues to what the upcoming event will cover, especially those clues embedded within Snyder’s run on Batman.Overall, while the preludes are the only explicitly “new” material included in this collection, for those excited to delve into the Dark Nights: Metal event, this edition will offer insight, context, and teases into the “dark crisis” to come, all wrapped up in a high-quality hardcover with a snazzy foil dust-cover.

Amazon incorrectly categorizes this as the last book in the series. This is the first.That being said, this is one fantastic story that leads into an equally outstanding series. There's plenty of setup and plot points taken from a wide variety of other sources. You don't need to know all the references, it's window dressing.It all comes together into setting up the Dark Multiverse. You should absolutely check this out.

I have to still give this book 5 stars because the book itself is great. I love the series and highly recommend it. However, Amazon really needs to understand they can't ship books in soft envelopes. I even tried ordering multiple books in one order, hoping they would come in a box, and they all ship separately in soft envelopes. Very frustrating, and sad to see all these damaged books I'll have to return.

For comic fans not familiar with the heavy metal DC comic run, this trade paperback sets the stage and is the perfect priner for another epic crossover event. The best artists in the bats history all make a contribution including Jim Lee and Romina Jr

Great introduction to Metal Series. It collects a bunch of different story lines over the years and creates a great way to introduce the multiverse. Different artists and writers but seems to be put together as a great prelude to what is to come.

My copy came with a nice big dent in the corner, but it’s a graphic novel so I didn’t buy it as a collectible. This is a great book, I’m excited to start Metal now, and then get to The Batman Who Laughs.

Éste cómic está genial, yo no soy fan de comprar cómics pero este sí lo quise adquirir por los dibujos tan excepcionales, la verdad que de los mejores trazos y una historia que te envuelve y te atrapa, lo recomiendo para coleccionistas y para contemplar el trabajo y los hermosos trazos. Lo consegui a 370 MXpesos ya no me espere a que bajara y lo compre. El único detalle fue que llegó con una raya en la portada, es casi imperceptible pero si eres muy minucioso se puede apreciar.

Couldn't put it down. Really good. The main prelude story fits in nicely between new 52 and rebirth but you don't need to have read either to enjoy the metal series. The other comics included are good reads as well but not 100% necessary to enjoy the actual metal story.

Great
